tayzia00 Posted June 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2011 Hey!! Does anyone know how much the clamshells are to rent for the day in HMC? Also, if you rent them ahead of time online or on the ship, or when you get to the island. Thanks:)
CruiserBruce Posted June 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I believe they are $14, and you can rent them on the ship, or on the beach.

Typhoon1 Posted June 15, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I would suggest reserving on line as the clamshells do sell very quickly.
sk84fungirl Posted June 16, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2011 Hmmm, I did not see them available online for pre-order. However, I understand there are plenty available along the entire beach.
marshhawk Posted July 9, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 9, 2011 Do you go rent one and have to carry it to where you are to set up? Are they heavy? Of do you order one, grab two chairs and they set them up for you?:o

Of do you order one, grab two chairs and they set them up for you?:o From what I've read on this board and seen from pictures, they are along the entire stretch of beach and someone from Carnival will set it up. Also learned a pretty cool trick. Make sure to prop up the back of the shell with a bag or something to allow the ocean air to flow through or it will get really hot inside...;)
missygirl Posted July 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 10, 2011 Just back on Carnival Fantasy...not selling on Fantasy so we had to rent when we got to the beach. It cost us $17.00 and is located where they rent floats. Just a thought...we were in the water so much that we didn't spend a lot of time in the clamshell but if you need to be in the shade it will be for you. But when you report to the on beach attendant they will either give you the centre pole or go with you where you pick one out and they put the centre pole in. The clamshells lie flat until the pole is put in. Thats how they control who uses them.

They are in the process of replacing the older clamshells with the new ones, but it's going to be a gradual process. If you are on a Carnival ship and cannot pre-order online, go the water sports pavilion and they'll take care of you. You can select any clamshell anywhere on the beach. An island employee will set it up for you. We were at HMC in May, and an employee there said that the clamshells don't usually sell out on Carnival cruises, but they do on HAL.
