Why do you choose NCL? or not

When did that start? I've done several NCL cruises and there has always been two main shows every evening. Is this something new???

Yes it was subsequently pointed out that the poster of that information was incorrect. The poster made an assumption based on his one cruise on NCL and extrapolated that over the entire NCL operation.

The poster of this "information" also pointed out that RCI did anytime dining better than NCL based on this incorrect assumption.

Today I did a test on the other major lines CC sites. I asked one simple question "dress code for the mdr" And if shorts "smart casual" was accpetable

RCCI Moderaters delted my post after some very harsh words

Princess also deleted it moments later

Celebrity I have taken a beating on why the dress code and how shameful it is to wear dress short kahkis and golf shirt on clebrity how this cruise line is top notch ect. ect. ect.. 2 pages worth of post last i checked... They pretty told me i wasnt welcomed on there cruise line and to stick with NCL

Carnival- posters was absolutly amazing it seems carnival seems to be like alot of NCL paxs we go on vacation to have a good time.. They said smart casual was acceptable and the normal..

So in closing I cruise NCL because I can wear my "clean" kahkis shorts to dinner in the MDR and have a good time!

Thank god for FREESTLYE!!!

Ps im sure ill be responsible for alot of celebrity cruisers loosing some sleep tonight because i would wear shorts into there high class MDR !! LOL

Freestyle meals - no schedule, no formal dress code, and no strangers!

The crew!!!

The hull art as my daugther says, RC ships make babies cry they're so ugly :)

Great itineraries from NYC.

RC ships ugly? Believe you need glasses!

We chose NCL because they support same-sex marriage!

We will not only be sailing NCL for the very first time, but getting married on the ship.

No matter the cruise line we do always go in with an open mind no matter what we read on the boards. We're also not nit-pickers and the only thing that can really make for a bad cruise is if the ship sinks or the other passengers are despicable!

A bad day at sea is still better than a good day at work to me! lol

Congrats! A cruise is a memorable experience, so a cruise wedding will be doubly so!

We'd like to continue with NCL however we do feel that the product is now aging somewhat. It is absolutely the same on each ship and can become a little too predictable. Even a change of menus in the speciality restaurants would be a good idea once a year. Come on NCL - don't get complaisent if you want your customers' very valuable repeat business.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. While some "familiarity" is nice, nothing feels quite as exciting nor new anymore. The Epic prices are a little high for us, and DH thinks it's ugly. Hoping the new builds will be at least better looking while offering something "different."

That is exactly why we booked for our wedding.

It suited 'us' as a couple since we both love cruising, and we know we will have a great time.

Oh, and it's actually cheaper than a traditional wedding AND you get a vacation!

6 weeks to go!

Free style dining, professionally done evening entertainment shows, good on board activities, night time dance parties, great Cruise Directors such as Sinan on the Gem, nicely done food including very good vegetarian Indian food at the buffet and cruise prices that are hard to beat make NCL the best choice for budget cruisers. I have had six NCL cruises and none were bad. I especially recommend the Gem as my 6/5/2011 Bermuda cruise from NYC was the best cruise that I ever had.

Not disputing just asking. What type of activities have you enjoyed on the other lines you cruised that you would have liked to see or seen more of an NCL..

I enjoy trivia, NCL had trivia on the Spirit but it was "progressive trivia" where you had to go every time and increase your score. I like to go when the mood strikes not having to commit to every night.

The DW likes to go to cooking demo's, and though NCL played movies during the day it was not in a theatre setting but in one of the lounges off the casino on TV's.

I know it sounds kind of weird seeing that we were on a caribbean cruise, but we don't like to hang out by the pool and we don't really drink much, maybe just a cocktail at the evening show.

We took the cruise because it had a good number of ports, we only expected two sea days but due to a food borne illness, we missed Cozumel, we caught up on our sleep though.

I just wanted to start a thread about why you and your family love NCL.. Theres been alot of one post wonders lately (trolls) where they tell us all how bad ncl is.. Ill start off Ive been on 2 cruises (sky and sun) loved both and will book a 3rd ncl cruise in the near future I love the freestyle concept one reason I have no desire to dress up for anything especially while on vacation.. Ive had a blast on both my cruises The entertainment was good food was good and provided me the perfect chance to see places ive never had the chance to see before.. Plus they offer me the best bang for my buck ive researched different lines before booking both cruises and ncl was cheaper by at least 100$ and in one case $250 Thanks to all that reply

ditto----As a silver lattitudes member, I sail with NCL for the same reasons.

We love: freestyle, casual attire, excellent food, good value for money, spotless ships and food preparation and handling. Loved the cabin, friendly staff. I think NCL have the balance between value and giving the customer what they want. our latest cruise to Alaska on the Pearl gets 10 out of 10. Will be back aboard soon :)

'Cause my son works on board!

BUT, if I were to going to choose between all the cruiselines, I would choose NCL because I like freestyle. My first couple of cruises were on the Norway and there were still set dining times. I hated that "I'm gonna be late for dinner" feeling as you're rushing around the cabin trying to get dressed for dinner. Now I still dress up, but in a summery dress, for dinner but at my speed so I'm always on time for dinner.

I also like being able to choose which dining venue I want to eat at that day instead of being told where I get to eat. (I think Disney offers a great product but what's with the Disney thing where you rotate to a new dining venue each night? )

The crew on NCL is also so friendly. When I sail I'm "Mrs. S----'s Mom" to the crew and get treated like their mom. I'm glad that everyone gets that special feeling from the crew tho.

The entertainment is very good quality and I can't wait to try the Epic and experience the entertainment there. I've heard really good things about it.

NCL's innovative look at cruising keeps them on the front edge. It's fresh and current and that shows in the ships decor and her crew. It's a fun place to be.

But to be honest, I would sail NCL just for the banana bread and pretzel rolls! YUM!

In order of importance:

1. NY departure

2. Price

3. No need to pack fancy clothes.

Funny...those are my top three in order of importance! Except I would change

1. Boston departure.

We love saving air fare, garage parking (get dropped off and picked up at the pier by daughter) also!
