Bsan1221 Posted March 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2005 My husband and I are finally planning to order our excursions. Please keep in mind we are in our early 20's, and we love ADVENTURE! BUT WE NEED HELP! I spoke to TEMSCO Helicopters, INc., and they have in Juneau and Skagway the Glacier viewing in the helicopter and the dog sleeding which is 399.0 per person. Where is it better to do this tour ??? Juneau or Skagway.???? I was also told by TEMPSCO that they have something called Glacier Treakking in Skagway which is hiking and treaking and climbing walls of ice they have 3 levels for different types of physical fitness levels they said the go through Northstar Treakking. Is this safe?? Has anyone done this??? Any opinions? They also mentioned that in Ketchikan there are the Tatoosh Island Sea Kayaking, is that any good??? SKAGWAY: Klondike Rock Climbing & Rappelling Adventure and / or Chilkoot Horseback Adventure NEED HELP!
Host Caroline Posted March 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2005 Don't know anything about rapelling although Northstar and Temsco are reputable companies. Orca Cove kayaking with Southeast Sea Kayaks is best option in Ketchikan IMHO.. you can contact them directly at www.kayakketchikan.com
Budget Queen Posted March 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2005 For clairfication, TEMSCO has not operated glacier dog sledding from Juneau for a few years, only from Skagway. Northstar trekking gets consistant RAVES and always the recommendation for the 4 hour trek rather than the 2 hour. Consider it. :)

Budget Queen Posted March 19, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2005 There are several poster's here who have gone with Northstar. Perhaps make a post specific for that, and the kind people here will come through. :)
