HOHO bus in Halifax

HI. Just wondering if we can buy tickets in Halifax once we get there or only on-line.

FRED, which was the name of the HoHo bus in Halifax, is not running this year.

 

Really, unless you are disabled there is no need. Most things you will want to see are in the waterfront area or up Spring Garden Road. If you want to visit Citadel Hill and cannot do the uphill climb, you can take a taxi.

and booked thru cruiseline.Just contacted by TA to say its been cancelled.Can t seem to find another to book ahead of time,ex. another TOUR thru cruiseline.Anyone know what happended to them?or another one(see from above FRED not running either).:confused:

However unless you are mobility challenged you are better off walking the waterfront and taking a taxi to Citadel Hill if you wish.

FRED is dead.

The #8 ($2.50...get a transfer, they're good for a couple hours or more to hop on/off) runs every half-hour from the cruise ship port north along Lower Water and loops back south on Hollis with a stop at Scotia Square (Halifax's saddest shopping mall). Get off at Scotia Square if you want to go to the Citadel.

 

Maryann is right... if walking's not an issue, just walk the boardwalk along the harbour. There is some shopping on Spring Garden Road, but nothing outstanding.

As mentioned, the Harbour Hopper is fun. We are originally from Halifax and have taken it when home to visit family. A fun combination of some of the downtown sites combined with a quick tour of the harbour.

 

You can also look for a harbour boat tour that allows you to see Halifax from the waterfront.
