Bringing liquor onboard

I'm sure this has been covered - but can't find the search feature. Is it "legal" to bring alcohol on board? is there a limit? Is there an extra charge for bottles purchased in the duty-free shop onboard and consumed in your cabin?

"Legal"? No. Is it done? Yes.

No extra charge because you cannot do it, period. Purchases onboard are held in bond and delivered to your cabin on the last night.

Carnival allows you to bring on wine or champagne. Their website states only one bottle per cabin; however, the boarding pass states at the descretion of the security. We brought on two bottles of wine in our carry-on. No problems.

We brought a few bottles of wine on board and a small plactic bottle of Vodka without a problem. I think the problems may arise if you wheel a dolly full of booze aboard otherwise I think you should be just fine.

Enjoy!
