Princess and Santorini Tenders

I have read that some cruise lines drop off excursion passengers in one location and then go to the cable car spot for the rest of the passengers wishing to disembark.

What is Princess' approach? If the posted arrival time in Santorini is 8 am, when could we expect to be in the cable car lineup if we are ready to disembark when we dock?

Also, what is the process for securing tender tickets?

Thanks!

On Princess, tender priority is given to passengers on Princess tours, passengers in suites and passengers who are Elite in the Captain's Circle. All other passengers have to go to one of the lounges and get a numbered ticket. They are accommodated on a space available basis in the order they get a ticket. It is often 60 to 90 minutes before everyone is onto a tender.

We were in Santorini on Star Princess in June. We also arrived at 8 AM.

We met in the Capri dining room at 8 and were on shore about 8:15. It took about 10 more minutes to get to the top on the cable car.

We did Grand Princess and they did not stop twice. We anchored by the cable car, but we did a Princess tour, so we were escorted down to one of the first tenders to be taken to Athinios (I think?) where the buses were waiting. And boy I want to tell you they keep you all together. There are a couple of small shops, that we wanted to look in, but when we got back from the tour, we were told, "no time" and they herded us all to the tenders waiting. No time to even run to the store for anything.

We have been on Princess twice in Santorini. Both times we were off very fast. They made only stop. They had one area of the ship tendering for excurisions and another place for everyone else. We went to the dining room when we were ready to disembark and were given a ticket. It didn't take long to get on a tender.

Yes, Princess cruises anchored and tendered passengers to a pier near the cable car station. You can line up early to get your tender tickets if you want to leave the cruise ASAP. However, I did remember that we got off very fast and the cable car line was pretty short in the morning. It was a different story when we wanted to ride the cable car down in the afternoon; the line was super long!
