ccxnola Posted July 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2011 We will be flying into Venice (Marco Polo) for the start of a Trans-Atlantic cruise to New Orleans, LA. Since we will have at least 6 suitcases, I would like to leave 4 of them someplace for 4 days while we visit Venice. (We have booked a room at a small Venice Hotel.) SO...can anyone tell me if there is a 'starage' service at the Marco Polo airport - or at the cruise terminal?? I sure do not want to carry the added luggage on the Vaporetto!! Thanks in advance! mapleleaves Posted July 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2011 There is luggage storage at the airport and also at Piazzale Roma which is very near the cruise terminal. (There is storage at the cruise terminal itself but very limited hours so read about those details to see if they'll work with your flight times. ) I only had one suitcase and used the airport; it was about 6E per bag per day. I just took a small carryon to the hotel. Info on storage is halfway down the page in this link. http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/arriving_in_venice.htm
ccxnola Posted July 14, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted July 14, 2011 mapleleaves - Thank you for the quick and informative response. I need to think this through as we have 3 days between arrival and sailaway. Great to do some sightseeing, but a pain with the luggage.
euro cruiser Posted July 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2011 I think your best bet is the left luggage office at Piazzale Roma. From their web site (http://www.trasbagagli.it/en/index.shtml?services): At Piazzale Roma is available a service of custody and storage of the luggage, daily from 6.00 AM to 9.00 PM at the cost of € 5,00 per piece for each 24h from the delivery, to allow our customers in transit to be able to move freely in town. iancal Posted July 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2011 They also store luggage-or they used to- at the train station but I an not sure what the cost is or what the hours are.
euro cruiser Posted July 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2011 Yes, there is a left luggage office at the train staiton in Venice, but it's really only convenient for those arriving and departing by train, since going anywhere else requires crossing a bridge. The station's web site is here (http://www.grandistazioni.it/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=09dd82a9ec4eb110VgnVCM1000003f16f90aRCRD) and the information about the left luggage office is as follows: Venezia S. Lucia>Station services Page content Venezia Santa Lucia - Left Luggage On the ground floor, platform 1. Opening Hours 7/7 days 06.00 - 24.00 Charges 4,00 € the first 5 hours 0,60 € /hour from 6th to 12th hour 0,20 € /hour from 13th hour on

Yes we've left our luggage there a couple of times, and for us at least it's the most convenient option when coming or going to the cruise terminal..
