While In Miami

We will be sailing out of Miami for the first time and have a reservation the night before boarding at the Embassy Suites on NW South River Drive. Does anyone know of any good options for dining within walking distance?

Not much of anything within walking distance. Suggest taking a cab to dinner or perhaps using the hotel shuttle.

Wow, that is a disappointment. When we stay at the Embassy Suites in Ft. Lauderdale, there are many choices within walking distance. Oh well, we will stll enjoy the manager's reception and breakfast.

The hotel is out near the MIA airport, about a 15 minute cab ride away from downtown, and is fairly isolated, but has a nice restaurant in the hotel. Depending upon the price, possibly better options near the airport with dining options within walking distance, include the Homewood Suites, Sofitel, Hilton and Hampton Inn - all located within the Blue Lagoon area near MIA.

Good luck! :)

There is pretty much nothing there. There's an O'Sullivans or something around the corner, kinda crappy Applebee's type food. That being said, we love this hotel and stay there often. The restaurant in the hotel is actually quite good and they have real nice steakhouse offerings at night. We usually end up dining inhouse.

What is the Blue Lagoon area? I know NOTHING about Miami. Thanks for your help.

Blue Lagoon is a residential and office park area near the MIA airport. There is a strip mall with a grocery store, Starbucks, drug store, liquor store :D, and a few dining (Italian, Cuban and Chinese) and fast food options. The mall is directly across the street from the Hampton Inn, and about a 5 minute walk from the other hotels.

A taxi from any Blue Lagoon hotel to POM will cost just under $30 (including tip!) and the ride takes about 15 minutes. Most of the hotels offer free airport shuttle service and can set you up with a shuttle ride to the port for about $10 per person if you prefer.

Have a good cruise! :)

That is good to know. We usually try to stay away from hotel restaurants. That would definitely be an option if we keep this reservation. When we travel, we always look for Embassy Suites first when making reservations. We have always had good luck with them. Thanks for the info.
