How drinkable is the tap water on board?

For Eclipse read "any cruise ship".

They all have state-of-the-art desalination plants, which convert seawater to pure drinking water for cabin sinks etc, as good as you get from your tap at home. In fact better than many homes, including mine, which have hard water. But the water will not be as cold as your tap water at home.

 

Most ships have two water systems for different purposes with barely-treated or re-cycled water for different purposes.

So best not to drink from the toilet bowl :D

Hi,

 

We just stepped off the Eclipse on the 16th and the tap water tastes great! Nothing to be worried about at all.

It's fine....all of your ice, your food, and any other drinks will be made with the ship's water. In your cabin, the water will never "run cold" from the tap, so use ice in a glass to chill it down!

How drinkable is the tap water on board?

Better than most municipal water taps. And you can always get ice and water to refill water bottles up in the buffet. You should also be able to get ice and a pitcher of ice water from your cabin steward for your cabin.
