Cash in the Casino???

Recommended Posts

if you win-- the winnings go on the sign and sail card. its cashless cashout

you can put cash in

'

there are two sides to a sign and sail account-- the onboard spending and the casino side- you can not accidentally spend more then what you put on the casino side. (we only put 20.00 at a time-- you would be surprised how long that 20 bucks lasts me...

You open a "bank" account in the casino using your sign and sail. You can then deposit cash in the machines. When you want to cash out, the cash will be electronically deposited in your bank. When you move to the next machine, you insert the sign and sail and deposit however much of your bank into that machine.

If your balance runs down to 0, you can keep feeding cash in. You could also take money against your sign and sail, but you don't have to, and it's not automatic.

Hmmmm....trying to understand...

So, if I put $20 in a machine and lose 10 of it, I cannot take out my left over $10 dollar bill? Can I cash in the amount that's been put on the card at the cashier at any time??

Do you mean that both sides of the card are for different things?? This is all new to me!

Thanks for helping me understand!

Can we use cash in the slots in the casino?? How are winnings given back.....thinking positively here!!:)

We would rather NOT use of Sail and Sign card in the casino. Will that be possible??

Thanks so much!

You can use cash in the casino. However you will want to have your S&S card in the slot machine if you are playing those because for every 1000 points you accumulate you will be given $10 instant credits.

When you get on the ship you need to set up your players bank. As the other poster said it uses your S&S card but the two accounts are entirely separate.

When you are ready to cash out of a machine you tell the machine to upload your credits to your players bank. If you want to redeem those credits for actual cash you just take your S&S to the cashier in the casino and ask for the amount you want to cash out.

I used to take a bunch of cash with me to gamble with, I usually take about $750+ to play with during the week, but lately I've just left it at home and I get money from my S&S card. You can download money from your S&S card and it shows up like an onboard purchase as an entertainment expense so there is no charge for it.

Or you can do a combination of the two.......Sometimes I do both, if I'm in the casino late and don't want to go back to the cabin for more cash I'll just download the credits from my S&S card and then the next day go pay down the S&S card balance with the cash that was back in my cabin.

The $10 will go on to your Sail and Sign Account... then you would need to go to the Cahiers cage to cash it out.....it is one card ...all in one...in fact it is your room key, credit card, all in one cards.......

If you put $20 in and only spend $10, say you want to move to another machine, you upload your 10 to your players bank, move to another machine and then download the 10 to credits in that machine.

If you just want the $10 in cash to say take ashore with you the next day, you still upload any credits to your players bank, go the the casino cashier and ask for the 10 from your players bank.

If you make any purchases on the ship those go on your S&S card that is either linked to the credit card that you secured your onboard account with when you checked in or it's debiting the cash deposit that you put on your S&S card when you first boarded the ship.

The only things that you can spend cash on the ship on is, bingo games, tips the casino and the arcade. Oh and the coin operated laundry

To keep from confusing the OP, lets clarify by saying that the S&S card operates as multiple things.

1. It is associated with your onboard account to make purchases with.

2. It is your cabin key.

3. It can be set up in the casino to act as a players bank where you accumulate, use and cashout winnings.

4. It is your picture (embedded) id to ding you on and off the ship.

5. It tells you what muster station you are assigned to.

6. It tells you what dining room and dining time and table you are assigned to.

7. It is an indicator of how many Carnival cruises you've been on, blue for 1, gold for 2-9, platinum for 10-24 and white for 25+.

Not always true, we and a friend of ours recently recieved checks in the mail from Carnival for money that was left in the casino bank.....we were totally shocked as our cruise was in Feb. That was a nice little surprise........so I booked another cruise. :p:D

i admit i got a li confused reading this but i think i got it. You open up a bank account on your S &S card. Then you can add a certain amount of money on it for the casino which you;ll have a limit until you hit 0.

or you can link it to the card and you play as you go with no limit as long as you have enough credit on your creditcard to cover it right???

I hope i got it right-lol!

What slots do they have....penny, nickles, dimes, quarters?

I'm not a gambler but I do plan on hitting the casino next cruise even if its only $20

Think of your S&S card as an ATM card that can access two different bank accounts.

On the ship your accounts are you Sail & Sign onboard spending account and your Players Bank account.

The Sail & Sign onboard spending account is to pay for everything on the ship (think charging it to your hotel room;)) and the Players Bank is only for the Casino.

As stated in another post it is much easier to do than explain.

Adding onto OKGirl's explaination. If you wanted to cash out the $10 then you would go to the cashier and get your money. Just like an ATM transaction, but with a person.

Also if you need cash (and you've secured S&S with a CC) get it out a slot machine. No fees at all. It even comes up as 'entertainment' on your bill so no cash advance fees on your CC either.

You open a Players Bank account at a slot machine in the casino. You can either use cash or transfer from your Sail & Sign account.

They need your permission to transfer, just like transferring money between bank accounts.

If you have zeroed out your Players Bank you will need to transfer money from your S&S account to your Players Bank or just use cash. Again easier to do than to explain.

I have seen slots up to $5 on the ships. I'm sure there are higher denoms.

Be careful with the penny slots they can be up to $6 a pull. Quarter slots traditionally max out at 75c a pull.

If in doubt ask.

They have every denomination that you mentioned plus .02 cent (you can win a BMW.....:D) $1, $5 and $10. Many machines are multi-denominational, so make sure before you spin the reels which amount it is set on.

As someone else said, setting up your players bank is really easy and the instructions are on each machine. You don't even have to wait until the casino is open to set up your bank, even though the machine is saying the casino is closed. It's the 1st thing I do on the ship after getting my 1st Bloody Mary at the Lobby bar.....:p

Also, many Carnival ships have the On Us program in the casino so when you have accumulated 1500 points on your players card (and no that's not betting $1500 it's some combination of money in plus credits earned) you get an "On Us" card which gives you free drinks in the casino while playing.

I usually get my 1500 points by the 2nd day but on the Glory earlier this year because I had contacted the Players Club to let them know that I would be back and I had just gotten off the Ecstasy a few weeks earlier, as soon as I introduced myself to the Casino Host before the casino opened he gave me my card right then, so I never had to pay for a drink in the casino for the whole cruise.

You can also buy casino chips for table games with cash. At the end of the gaming session, any leftover chips (or even winnings!) can be exchanged for cash at the casino cashier cage.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'd hate to think i was playing coins when i was really playing $5's:eek:

So do i sign up for the players card before playing or will i automatically be signed up by playing? I was thinking 1500= $1500 -lol! Glad you cleared up that info-hahahah

The $10.00 does not go to your sign and sail account. It goes to your casino bank account. The sign and sail card is being used as identification.

Do you mean that both sides of the card are for different things?? This is all new to me!

The poster used the two sides comment to mean that the sign and sail has more then one function. It's not double-sided.

Do you have to use your S&S card to play? Can't you just use cash and then print out any remaining money in a machine to a voucher to put in another machine or cash in at their cash counter?

And yes I understand why you would want to use the S&S card but for myself who won't play a lot and don't cruise every few months it sounds like a pain so I would like to have the choice.

you CAN use cash to play- the machines do not pay back in cash nor do they pay out with white slips of paper. (green factor I am guessing, less trash for them to burn) the sign and sail card works like that slip of paper.

You don't sign up in advance. When you play with your S&S card in the slot it automatically starts keeping track of your level of play and accumulating those points toward your cash back award (at every 1000 points) and when you get to 1500 points.

I don't know what the actual exchange is, but I usually take around $100 a day to play with and I play .02 cent and .25 cent machines (until I've won some of their credits). And like I said I'm usually at 1000+ points by day 2.

On your next cruise, if you will contact the Carnival Players Club and let them know that you are sailing again and what ship you were on last, they may send you some Bon Voyage gifts. I usually get the deluxe BV package which is choc strawberries, champagne and drink coupons.

Do you have to use your S&S card to play? Can't you just use cash and then print out any remaining money in a machine to a voucher to put in another machine or cash in at their cash counter?

You don't have a separate players card. Each time you are on the ship your S&S card is your players card.

Your only option to use the credits in a machine are to upload them to your players bank and cash them in or just play them out.

And be sure not to take your card out of the slot until the machine says it has uploaded your credits and tells you how much the new balance in your players bank is.

The Casino account and S&S account is two different accounts, and look at it as if you have two different cards. All slots, you put money in and when you are ready to cash out, it will be put into your Casino account. You can not use your casino account for purchases like drinks etc, because it is strickly your casino gaming account. When you are ready, and if you did not lose all your gaming money, than you can cash out at the cashier booth. They will give you cash at that window.

To fund your gaming account you either slide more money into the slot machine, or on the keypad, on the slot machine, you can tell it to withdraw/transfer money which will "charge" your S&S account. You tell it how much.

OP: It really is easier than it sounds. On my first cruise, I wandered into the casino even though they weren't open yet. A nice lady working there explained how to set up my account and how to use my card while gambling.

Also, on my subsequent trips, someone was always sitting next to me asking how to set up an account, how to get money off the machine and onto their card, or how to cash out. Don't be afraid to ask one of the casino staff or a fellow gambler. Most people are more than willing to help. :)
