cruiser1955a Posted August 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2011 Go to the NCL web page and find the live bridge cam at 9:00am (eastern time) any Sunday morning. You can watch her pulling right up to the dock.
CruisinMaterial Posted August 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2011 Definitely docks at Heritage Wharf. NCL has the contract locked up on that wharf for 10 years and they alternate ships there. Half the time it is Boston to Bermuda (Sunday through Tuesday evening) and the other half is New York to BDA (Wednesday through Friday). The only day the wharf is not used is Saturdays. :)

billet Posted August 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2011 The Queen Mary 2 is too big to go alongside and tenders on her occasional visits Ships also tenders passengers in when they run aground on the reefs (a not too common occurrence :))

goin-away Posted August 4, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2011 Are there ships/lines that tender in Bermuda? HAL has one, Veendam, I think that tenders to St George for a day and then moves to Hamilton for a couple of days.
SailBadtheSinner Posted August 4, 2011 #10 Share Posted August 4, 2011 untailored bostonian asked: ....Are there ships/lines that tender in Bermuda?... According to the 2011 Bermuda Cruise Ship Schedule, only one other cruise ship will anchor & tender this season besides the Veendam. That would be the Crystal Symphony of Crystal Cruises Inc on 10/27 from 8am to 4pm in the Great Sound. SBtS
Charbie Posted August 7, 2011 #11 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Is there a special place where penthouse passengers are checked in for NCL ships departing the Port of Boston. And, if we are sailing with family members who are booked into mini-suites near by, do they get to check in along with us? thanks, Karen
untailored bostonian Posted August 7, 2011 #12 Share Posted August 7, 2011 HAL has one, Veendam, I think that tenders to St George for a day and then moves to Hamilton for a couple of days. St George has, or at least had, docks for cruise ships. Why, if it is the only ship that uses St George, can't it use a dock?
billet Posted August 7, 2011 #13 Share Posted August 7, 2011 St George has, or at least had, docks for cruise ships. Why, if it is the only ship that uses St George, can't it use a dock? The ship is too wide to get through St Georges Cut so they have to anchorin Murrays Anchorage to the east of St Georges and tender passengers in through the Cut. Fairly regularly they do not anchor and miss St Georges altogether, going straight to the Dockyard because of the seas.
SailBadtheSinner Posted August 8, 2011 #14 Share Posted August 8, 2011 St George can accommodate 2 cruise ships. One at Ordnance Island, and the other at Pennos Wharf. Here's the explanation from CC member Topsham on why the Veendam can not enter the Cut: The VEENDAM is a very beamy ship, much more so than other vessels that have run though town cut. On the simulation, when the vessels transits Town Cut the water she displaces cannot flow past the ship without creating a suction or cushion effect along the banks of the cut and once he gets 'bounced' she is impossible to control. Too bad for St George, it is a beautiful port.

When the person greets you to figure out where you should be, tell them you are in a Penthouse. They will bring you to the Concierge. Mini-suites however have to go through the regular line for whatever the cruiser may be (first time cruiser, Latitudes, Lattitudes Gold & Platinum).
