Charter Flights for cruisers

Recommended Posts

I've often wondered why cruise companies and/or some airlines didn't charter jets for Midwestern customers for those shorter weekend cruises out of cities like Chicago or Kansas City to FL.

That's what the Caribbean and Mexican all inclusive resorts do to encourage short weekend stays...bundling the price of both the stay and flight. Same with Las Vegas casinos weekend deals.

We love those fun getaway, onboard vacations but can't justify the high airline prices for a cruise shorter than seven days. Those of us who are landlocked need our ocean fix more often.

Just a thought.

I think because its not like a AI where everyone wants to get there at the same time and wouldnt matter if the plane was delayed as much.

Cruises that offer airfare generally offer it at bad times, so people need to change the times anyway. Most of us want to come in the day before, not last minute etc. Just more variables for cruises to fly into.

In rhe past, RCI and other cruiselines have offered charter flights, especially during school vacation periods. If they no longer do so, and I don't know that such is the case, they may have decided that the effort was not worth the expense and attendant problems that was involved or they found that the scheduled airlines were offering sufficient airlift to meet their passengers needs. If there is a specific situation where you believe that charter flights would be advisable, write the cruise line and make that suggestion. If it has merit, they may do it.:)
