Currency on Rhapsody for Oz cruise

Might be a silly question but does anybody know if you are charged in usd or aud onboard the rhapsody? We are doing the qld cruise on 6th December. When I sailed on the liberty in Europe we were charged in usd so thought it might be a rcci thing.....

Everything on board is charged in US dollars Dave. The slot machines in the Casino pay US coins.

Yes hope it hangs in there. A perfect time to cruise on a USD ship. Must say it's nice to be on the good side of the US dollar for a change. :)

Make sure that they charge your credit card in US dollars - don't let them convert the charges to Aussie dollars!!

How about tipping? I've prepaid my tips for a cruise on Rhapsody or the Seas from Sydney Australia, but what about the tips for room service and other tips I might want to give in cash. Should I take USD or AUS?

If you want to tip in cash, they're probably fine in either USD or AUD. USD is the main currency they use so always suitable, but as Rhapsody is in AU for a while, they'd be fine with that too. If it's the last cruise out of AU though, better to use USD.

Quick question: Is it possible to withdraw USD on board anywhere, or would it be better to do a currency exchange prior to boarding?

There is an ATM onboard which you can use, and also funds can be withdrawn from the casino, so not quite anywhere but you will have access to funds there if you like. However, it may be cheaper (in terms of bank/cruise fees) to get funds in advance - this depends on your provider though.
