If this was bothering me, I would just carry my luggage on. We checked most of ours, but there were 19 of us, we still had plenty of items to carry-on. We found a table near the pool, someone sat with the stuff while others, ate, explored and swam!

Our luggage did not make it to our rooms before our 5:30 dinner (we had standing ressies for our big group) so we went to dinner in our traveling clothes, no problem.

To put you at ease, remember that it's not like an airport where your luggage gets placed an a conveyor with other luggage heading to different flights. You're boarding the only ship at the terminal. No other ship leaves that terminal on Friday. This entirely removes the possibility of your luggage heading to another destination. There is the possibility of it arriving late to your cabin, but I'm guessing that the earlier you arrive at the terminal, the earlier you get your luggage (with some exceptions) unless they find booze in your luggage. Then you will be called to retrieve your luggage. :D

As said above, you can just take it all aboard with you. I would make sure my suitcase has wheels though.

And, before somebody tells you there is size restriction like at the airport.

There is NOT.

p.s. - There is like maybe 1 out a few thousand chance, maybe 10,000 chance something would happen. As said, there are no other ships. They just take all the luggage and get it onboard.

I have not had my luggage lost at the pier in Boston, but did have it lost in Barcelona after our last cruise. It seems that some other guest walked off with my luggage because they did not check the tags. Funny thing is my luggage and their luggage looked nothing alike aside from being the same brand.

I've decided that moving forward, I might put some fluorescent tape on the top and side of my luggage and write "This not YOUR luggage" on it. Who knows? It might work! :p

I agree with garycarla, if you are that nervous about losing sight of your luggage then I would carry it on. You need to remember that if you board early you may need to carry it with you until cabins are available. It is generally 1:30 to 2 before cabins open up. The dawn may have a place to store them if you check with the ncl staff.

my luggage is personally adorned. easy to spot. watched about a dozen bags fall in the water in miami and in anchorage my luggage went to the cruiseline instead of my hotel because i am an idiot and put the tags on a day too early. that luggage wasn't located until it showed up in my cabin 2 days later at 11:30 pm! thinking i will just have the family drag it on...:D thanks for the replies to the positive...

Actually, while the Norwegian Dawn is the only cruise ship sailing from Black Falcon Terminal on Fridays, there will sometimes be other ships docked at the pier that are making a port call in Boston on Friday. No luggage will be being loaded or taken off those ships, however, so there is virtually no likelihood that the longshoremen will direct your luggage anywhere but to the correct ship. We did sail from Boston once when a pallet of luggage fell into the water during the loading process but it was retrieved quickly and the cruiseline, took care of laundering, cleaning or otherwise compensating those passengers for any losses or problems they experienced..

we are wearing our bathing suits and covers on to the ship in miami. want to get right to the pool, sun and drinks!! we eat at the buffet the first night so we can take our time unpacking an not have to worry about changing so early. have the other 10 nights to eat in dining rooms. then we hit the casino before bed. can't wait!!!

Ok -here comes the 1 in million - lost in Boston, no, NYC yes. It's our honeymoon and we are on Celebrity going to Bermuda. Land in Newark, check in with Rep and get on a a bus for Celebrity and Carnival. All bags for Celebrity in the back area, Carnival in front. Due we had turned the bags over and were all marked we would not see them till dinner. Ok, sail away, NYC in fall, dinner at 8:00, go to cabin and we have 3 of 4 bags, what is bag 4? All the formal wear!. Notify the Hotel Mananger, we had 4 tags, they only scanned 3, UH OH. To there credit, I got a tux and suit for the first 2 nights and my wife got 200 in credit in the stores for a dress. Bag was FLOWN to Bermuda and we got it when we arrived. I have to admit we laugh now, but not then, a new marriage and the honeymoon was in jeopardy. Celebrity bent over double to fix it and they did.

I have been on a few cruises and this is the first time i have ever had/seen 2 luggage issues. One was mine. When we disembarked and went to get our luggage 1 piece was missing. Apparently the tag fell off. They have a spot at the pier for luggage with no tags so that was no problem but nervewracking. I did ask the guy helping me to find my luggage how often luggage gets lost and he said not that often.

The other issue was one night in our freestyle weekly there was an insert with a picture of luggage saying have you seen this luggage. So apparantely some one didnt have there bag most of the trip. I want to say we got the insert maybe monday or tuesday.
