lennel Posted September 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2011 We usually fly direct to the country we go to but this time we fly thru paris change planes to go to italy, Do we collect bags in Paris and go thru customs or just change flights and do the cistoms and luggage check in Italy
bethco Posted September 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2011 Unless you have booked your flight to Italy as two completely separate tickets, your plane change will probably no different from changing planes in any other large airport. Your luggage will be checked through to your final destination. It is possible that your passport may be reviewed or scanned along the way. But as long as you stay within airport security it should just be a plane and or gate change. Have a great trip.
yogimax Posted September 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2011 Be aware that the CDG airport can be a nightmare for connections. Allow enough time for the change of planes. You are most likely flying on one ariline or partner airlines. Your luggage will be routed to your destination
ab0si Posted September 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2011 In Paris, you will go through passport control. Since you will be changing terminals (I assume), you will also go through security. You will not see your luggage until Italy. Comments on CDG: 1) Determine which terminal you arrive in and which you leave from. Study maps of the airport (several sources for doing both these things in other threads here). 2) Unless you have mobility issues, I strongly suggest you walk between terminals rather than taking the bus. It is usually quite a bit faster.
6rugrats Posted September 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2011 As already posted on the other thread you started asking the same question, if you're on one ticket, you'll clear immigration in Paris and not see your bags until you land in Italy, where you'll pick up your luggage and then clear customs.
