Independent tours at Bay of Islands

Does anyone know if local tour companies offer independent day / half-day sightseeing tours of the are which you can purchase on arrival at shore? Do you have any details of these tours - cost, duration, itinerary?

There is an information booth on the wharf at Paihia if you want to wait until you arrive.

 

Waitangi is worth visiting as this is a very historical and important part of NZ history.

Ive just booked an independant excursion with a taxi driver. He is taking us to the places we want to see. I notices fullers had a few tours you could take but these I imagine would be large buses with lots of people.

Is the price for doing this comparable to regular tour prices?

There are 6 of us so we share the $80 per hour between us and get to choose where we go and how long we stay:D

I've rented a car. Bay of Islands is ideal for self drive touring. :) Taking the shuttle from the tender dock- however will take you to the visitor center, if you want to wait until you get there.
