Smoking policy

There is no smoking in casino, dining rooms cabins and balconies. As a smoker that was on the Solstice in June,I spend time in the designated smoking areas, one on deck 5,one by the pool by the outside of the Aqua spa and one on the top deck of the pool and on one designated side of the Sky Lounge. I followed the non smoking policy to the letter where others did take a chance and smoke on their balconies, not nice.

Hey Momom. Your answer is exactly what the website says but I can't seem to find out about the Sunset bar. Some places say yes it is partially designated and others say it was discontinued on Solstice. Some in my party smoke and I have been trying to find a current answer on the Sunset for some time. Can you enlighten me? No pun intended.

It is important. Our trip is only two weeks away and we are meeting up with friends flying in from different parts of the country. While I myself do not smoke, others do and I would like to know in advance somewhere comfortable to suggest for us to all meet on the outside of the ship where we can sit, have a cocktail and enjoy the sailaway other than having to stand in some crowded, isolated area with no view or bar service.

Sunset Bar is a great place for smokers to hang out with non smokers who aren't offended by a little smoke. As it's completely open air (aside from the overhang of the bar and some umbrellas) it's not fuggy like some of the areas on the port side of the pool deck can get.

Have a great cruise!

Folks ~ when you see an unhelpful, unpleasant or rude response to a question, please use our alert system (little red triangle in the upper right corner of each post) to let us know and we'll take care of it.

Keep in mind when we remove a post, all other posts that refer to it must also be removed.

I urge everyone to follow guidelines when posting and answer in a friendly, helpful manner.

THANKS!

Hi folks ~ I'm going to address this one more time so there is no confusion.

When posts are removed for a guidelines violation, ALL posts that subsequently respond to the removed posts must be removed as well. It doesn't necessarily mean there was anything wrong with your particular post. But since the offending post is gone, all responses to it must go as well.

Finally, when you have a question regarding posts that have been removed, the guidelines clearly state to email our community manager at community@cruisecritic.com. Questioning post removals on the boards is also a guidelines violation.

I hope that clears up any misunderstanding.

Does Celebrity enforce the policy if someone complains about their neighbor smoking on their veranda? Hope they do. Celebrity's smoking policy is one of the reasons I look forward to cruising on Celebrity again after several years of cruising on other lines.

Just disembarked from Eclipse - I no longer smoke, but noticed that one side of the Sunset Bar definitely permits smoking.

BTW, didn't notice anyone smoking on the balconies but, as we are presumably talking about noxious smells here and not health risks, am I the only person driven indoors several times a day from an aft-ish balcony on deck 9 because of the utterly vile smell of garlic emanating from the kitchens? Far more pungent than any cigarette I've ever smelt...

They by and large do enforce the policy. Cabin Attendants and assistants are tasked with reporting violations if they observe them and if you see someone violating the policy you can report to Guest Relations and expect them to take care of the issue.

Good to know. Thanks.

It's important to mention that reporting a neighbor smoking on their balcony to the cabin steward will likely not help-- they are probably dependent on that party for gratuities, as they are dependent on you. It's not fair to expect them to jeopardize a significant portion of their income. As was mentioned, the report should go to Guest Services and should be specific-- there's not much they can do of a report of someone somewhere on the port side of the ship smoking.

Actually, reporting violations of the smoking policy is part of their (the cabin staff's) responsibilities. They actually can get in a lot more trouble by not reporting than by so doing. I would agree that the passenger's call probably should go directly to Guest Relations, but the reporting is clearly part of your Cabin Attendant's responsibility. Ask them about it, we have and that was the answer that we got from them.

I have never been a smoker however I do live with one.....He gave it up several months ago but when the electric cigarette came out he tried it and I must say the funny fake looking thing does not emit smoke.....it is a water vapor with no smell what so ever. I never have to smell that awful smoke anymore. Does anyone know if it would be allowed on the ship so my husband doesn't have to mingle with smoke from other smokers?

An ashtray on the table is a reasonable sign that smoking is allowed there.

Not always. On more than one occasion I have seen people in the pool area pick up an ashtray from the 'smoking side' and bring it back to where they were ensconced on the 'non smoking side'.

Celebrity considers the electronic cigarettes the same as regular cigarettes.....

Hey Larry you and your wife answer alot ofour questions and that tells me you are long time cruisers. My husband took up smoking that new Electronic cigarrette, no smoke just water vapor comes out....he gets the nicotine and I don't have to smell smoke any longer. I've never smoked so this is a plus for me. All restaurants and bars in Oregon are accepting them inside since it doesn't disturb anyone....Do you think Celebrity would accept it in the bars and casino?

Did you see anyone with the new Electronic cigarrette? No smoke just water vapor and knowone is offended...I'm not a smoker but my husband is and he is now using the EC....do you think he could use it in the bars and casino? I'm thinking it would be rude in the dining areas so no worries.
