Next year we are going to Phuket and Singapore before jumping on the ROS to sail back home after it comes out of drydock.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay in both places.

in Phuket would like somewhere around Patong and close to the beach if possible.

We have just booked the Peninsula/Excelsior Hotel in Coleman Street, Singapore for a 6 night stay before our 35 day Princess cruise, Singapore to Vancouver next April. We have stayed there many times and like it because of its excellent location within walking distance to the Raffles Centre, Marina Bay area, Chinatown, Food Halls, Funan Centre (Computer/Electronics) etc., as well as only being a few minutes from the City Hall rail station if we want to go further afield.

We were only at the Peninsula/Excelsior in July and all the renovations are completed. We had planned on staying somewhere different next time but decided to stick with what we are happy with and my research showed this hotel is still good value. Check all the hotel booking sites as 4 star hotels in Singapore are expensive (at least $200 AUD per night plus approx 17% taxes). We managed to get it cheaper than this by paying up front. If you are flying Singapore Airlines you can get a good deal with their Singapore stopover package but next time we are flying Ethiad because it is much cheaper for the one way flight. Good luck with your search. You will love Singapore.

Hi Ross,

We had 10 days in Phuket in May this year.We stayed at the Merlin Beach resort which is at Tri Trang Bay about a 10 minute Tuk TuK ride into Patong Beach. It was a magnificient resort but you could not walk into town.

Friends of ours stayed at the Holiday Inn in Patong and its its only minutes to beach and shopping...Its really really nice and I would recommend the Busakon wing ...i think thats close to the spelling. Its close to 711 store where you can buy your liquor and nibbles really cheap....the food is really cheap and good .the onlt thing that is remotely dear is wine .

In Singapore we stayed at Conrad centennial ...great location.Singapore is a great city ..very safe and clean.

Have Fun...You will love Rhapsody

Ps theres 14 of us going to Nz in Nov 2012 on Voyager of the Sea ...plenty room left

Cheers

I liked the Diamond Cliff Resort in Patong..as the name implies its built into a cliff with big rooms and wonderful views of the ocean, plus is tsunami safe. You cant really walk to town but it is a short and cheap tuk tuk ride away.

We stayed at the Conrad in Singapore and by bidding for room on Priceline site got the room for $85USD if you stay there pay a little extra and upgrade to the executive level, free drinks, wi fi and wonderful free food.

Singapore: Stayed at - The York, Pan Pacific and Royal Plaza on Scotts, the latter two pricey but look for deals on their websites or through the hotel wholesalers.

Not been to Phuket.

Above all..ENJOY ! Love Singa.
