Mendenhall Glacier

If you're planning to visit the glacier I recommend doing it early in the day if possible. When we were there 9/5 it was great until around noon. Once the helicopters started flying people up to the glacier NONSTOP I felt like I was in the movie Apocalypse Now. Not very relaxing for a beatiful natural setting :eek:

Each time we have gone out there on our own -- we always went out early in the morning. One time we were still there around noon -- yup -- lots of helicopters overhead.

We got to Mendenhall later in the day (arriving a little after 5:00 p.m .) and did not notice the problem with the helicopters. That surely would have been a disappointment to me.

Ditto with us, we never saw nor heard any helicopters, but like you late in the day.

It was raining when we went, so I guess they canceled all the helos for that day....
