Questions about match play on some drinks

Okay, so I see from a zydecoocruiser list that the Classic Cocktails are (were) $8.75.

My questions are:

Are these the drinks that qualify for $5 match play on table games?

Is it a chip, certificate, or something else?

Is this on all ships? I'm cruising with a margarita drinker on the Triumph in November.

If we don't play table games, is there something else we can/should do with it? Should we ask someone playing table games if they want to buy them or is that tacky? :o

Appreciate any help with this! THANKS!

sell them? for how much would you ask for one?

they are only good for match play on a table game- example on roulet you have to put down 5 bucks and the match play and if you win- your bet was 10.00 instead of 5.

Any time a person buys a specialty drink they get a match play coupon

You give the cashier the receipt and then she igves you a coupon. You hand the coupon to the person at the roulette table and in return you get a $5 chip. I did this on my last cruise and was told that I had to bet $5 on the outside in order to use the free $5 chip on the outside. On my cruise before that I was able to bet $5 on numbers and use the free chip on the outside. I still don't know which is correct. I didn't ask the casino host, which I will do on my Aruba cruise.

Thank you for that detailed explanation. ;)

Its even money bets only on roulette, so black red, even, odd, etc.

On my last 2 cruises this year, I had to place a bet with my $5 match play coupon...never been handed a chip.

Thanks, DebnGAb and DPG, you are right. I know that you got a chip if you won. Sorry for misinformation. There was one person in my group who drinks and doesn't play table games. So towards the end of the cruise she gave me her receipts. During that particular sailing I wasn't asked for s&s card. I'm thinking I saw someone post last month that they were asked to see s&S card. DebnGab or DPG do you rememeber reading that post?

Hey there..no worries :)

I didnt see the post but from personal experience, I've tried to take other peoples reciepts with me to the cashiers cage to obtain the match play and was told I could only get ones from my receipts and that the other person would need to come over for their receipts.

But its no problem because the match play coupons can be used by anyone....so if you have a drinker who doesnt gamble, just have them go cash in their receipts and give the match play cards to you..or someone else.

Is this on all ships and all bars? If I am understanding correctly, if I buy one of the 'classic drinks', I just need to show my receipt to the casino cashier and they'll give me a $5 match play for each drink? That's a pretty good deal imho, esp since I'd be betting anyway :D

That's correct. You will receive a $5 match play token - you have to put up $5 of your own money to use it, but if you're already playing in the casino, why not ??

Thanks! I learn something new every day - wouldn't have even thought I could get a match play coupon when buying a drink if I hadn't read it here! :)

one more question, I notice that long island iced tea is on the list of classic cocktails -- are they made "correctly"?

What I mean is do they use the five 1/2 ounce shots of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and triple sec (for a buzz inducing 2.5 oz of booze) or do they use a 1 oz portion of a "blend of all 5 alcohols that the bartender mixed together in the back room" type of thing? thx ;)

Sorry to be dense, but this is new to me. Last cruise was 4 years ago, and I did get the $10 free play on the slots twice last time for hitting the points level. Would someone clarify a couple of things, please?

Is the match play offer for everyone or do you have to be a rated player? Is it good only on roulette, or card tables and slots too? Finally, is there a limit on the number you can use?

TIA for anyone that can enlighten me. DH and I don't drink a lot (compared to some S&S bar tabs I've read about) but we do usually have a few a day and tend to drink DODs, frozen drinks, or top shelf liquor. Would love to find out if this promotion would work for us and we do like to donate our fair share to the casino! :)

The match play is for anyone who orders one of the "classic cocktails." You do not have to be rated to receive or use it. I don't know what games it is good for other than what others have posted here. I know it isn't applicable to the slots.

The other program you may be interested in is the Drinks on Us program. If you accumulate 1,500 points in the casino (on most ships), you get free drinks in the casino for the remainder of the cruise. On the slots, your points are tracked automatically IF you put your S&S card in the machine(s) as you play. On the table games, you have to rated and I *think* there are minimum bets.

Normally match play coupons are only used on even money bets. Blackjack, and the out side of roulette.

Does any other drinks qualify for match play tickets, like DOD or a regular Margarita or is it just the 6 drinks I see under Classic cocktails.

Usually just the Classic Cocktails; however on the Glory last December in the Punchliner Club a special was advertised for match play if your drink was over a certain amount. I don't remember the specifics.

Thanks everyone! I did hear about the "drinks on us" but I thought you had to wait until the next cruise to get it, so happy to hear that once I get the 1500. I'm in. I don't gamble big, but I usually spend about $40 a night and still managed to get the free play for 1000 points twice. Thus. I should be able to make the program by maybe Day 3. Not a huge deal, but certainly a nice perk to know about.

DH usually plays poker or blackjack, although he does occasionally play roulette, and I'm sure if he had match play, he would use them. And there were 2-3 drinks on the menu we drink, so a nice perk there too.

I LOVE all the stuff I find out on CC! Thanks again for all the info!
