Best of both worlds??

Depends on what ports are on your "must see" list:confused:

You cannot go wrong with any of the Oceania ships IMO

Just depends on what your looking for

The larger ships have more dining venues, Barristas & bit larger cabins

The R-ships have a more cozy feel

Come on, friends, give the poor OP a break!

I believe (from reading the X board) that the OP had been considering a cruise on Celebrity Solstice-October 2, 2012- and Celebrity just announced they were redirecting some of the planned Eastern Med cruises, especially the ones going to Egypt and Greece, leaving some people scrambling...

That one was to be a 12 night cruise going to: Barcelona, Rome, Naples, Santorini, Kusadasi, Athens, Mykonos, Malta, Barcelona

And it got switched to:

Barcelona, Nice (Villefranche), Florence, Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice, Dubrovnik, Barcelona

Now, assuming the OP wanted a similar Greek Island cruise around the same time, this would be the best option--Riviera, October 4, 2012:

Oct 04 Venice, Italy

Oct 05 Venice, Italy 4:00 p.m.

Oct 06 Dubrovnik, Croatia 12:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m.

Oct 07 Kotor, Montenegro 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

Oct 08 Corfu, Greece 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.

Oct 09 Monemvasia, Greece 10:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

Oct 10 Aghios Nikolaos (Crete), Greece 8:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

Oct 11 Santorini, Greece 8:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

Oct 12 Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey 8:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

Oct 13 Delos, Greece 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.

Mykonos, Greece 2:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m.

Oct 14 Athens (Piraeus), Greece 4:00 a.m.

My personal favorite at that time would be this one on Marina, September 27, 2012:

Sep 27 Barcelona 8:00 p.m.

Sep 28 Ibiza, Spain 8:00 a.m. 11:00 p.m.

Sep 29 Cruising the Mediterranean Sea

Sep 30 Valletta, Malta 10:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m.

Oct 01 Cruising the Mediterranean Sea

Oct 02 Aghios Nikolaos (Crete), Greece 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

Oct 03 Alexandria, Egypt 10:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m.

Oct 04 Cairo (Port Said), Egypt 6:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m.

Oct 05 Jerusalem (Ashdod), Israel 8:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m.

Oct 06 Haifa, Israel 8:00 a.m.

Oct 07 Haifa, Israel 8:00 p.m.

Oct 08 Limassol, Cyprus 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.

Oct 09 Rhodes, Greece 8:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.

Oct 10 Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.

Oct 11 Istanbul, Turkey 12:00 p.m.

Oct 12 Istanbul, Turkey

We did that basic itinerary on Nautica in 2009 and loved it...

Hopefully Oceania doesn't follow Celebrity on the itinerary changes...

If the OP enjoys Celebrity's new ships, they may feel more at home on Marina or Riviera than on the smaller ships--dedicated showroom, more restaurant choices, bigger ship...
