gmachar Posted October 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2011 We will have a couple of days pre and post cruise in January - any thoughts on where to stay and what we might want to do with 2-3 days on each end of the cruise? Thanks for your suggestions.
Shekim Posted October 21, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2011 Lots of decisions to make; first which area of San Juan? Near/in OSJ or Isla Verde or Condado? here is a link I found... http://www.langland.org/cruises/sanjuan.asp We bid on Priceline and got the Marriott Stellaris for $110/ni. There is a sticky at the very top of the San Juan page that describes Priceline bidding and other bid sites. Check it out. If you read through all the threads here you'll find a wealth of information on where to stay, where to eat, what to do, how to get around... blue_water Posted October 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2011 We stay at the Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel & Casino in the Condado area near the beach. Great hotel close to a great deli and other restaurants and a short bus ride to old San Juan. Pool on top floor, very comfortable rooms
TOlson70 Posted October 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Rent a car and go explore the island. So much more to see outside of OSJ and San Juan!
lah66 Posted October 22, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 22, 2011 We are doing the exact same thing in March! We are flying in 3 days early and will stay in Old San Juan. We are staying at Old San Juan Suites...mixed reviews, but most important to use was cost ($125 a night) and being in Old San Juan. We plan on going to the forts, walking around Old San Juan, eating at Raices, Latin Roots, Barrachinas, Marmalade, maybe doing a Segway Tour. Post Cruise we are staying 3 nights at the Gran Melia ($100 a night, Hotwire). We will rent a car and go to the rain forest for hiking one morning, spend the afternoon at Luquillo Beach. Another day we go sailing/snorkeling with Erin Go Bragh. We will go with East Wind to Vieques to see the Biobay. Somewhere in there we want to find a roadside stop for some good pork, and relax at Gran Melias beautiful pool! Hope that helps!
sail7seas Posted October 22, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 22, 2011 What wonderful planning you have done. You seem to be 'covering all the bases'. Hope you have a great time.
lah66 Posted October 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 23, 2011 Thanks Sail7seas....I love to plan our vacations...almost as fun as the trip itself. But I know a lot of others do not...so I am always hoping that my obsession will be a help to others!
