Triumph stabilizers and cabin selection 6376

Need some input!

Triumph Stabilizers: Really concerned here. I have cruising experience, and wanted to give a cruise to my sister for her 60th birthday present. I have never had a problem with motion sickness even when the seas were rough. This coming cruise we are to sail on the Triumph. I’m reading some critical reviews about the stabilizers, and also criticism of our cabin selection. I requested a lower midship, away from elevators for noise, but now am reading about noise from deck below.

We are booked in Triumph 6376 (mid-section due to possible motion sickness). Now I am reading about all the noise from below from either the casino, World Band or the main Theater.

So, should we request a change? I want my sister’s first cruise for her birthday to be successful.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

My hubby and I will be cruising next fall, and I hope this turns out to be a good experience. Does Carnival ever offer upgrades?

I recommend switching. That room is directly above what looks to be a door between the arcade and the dance club. That dance club will play late into the night, well passed 1:00am. It's the last venue to close. Deck 7 is a great deck, with only rooms above & below. See if you can upgrade.

About the motion, I didn't think the Triumph had any more motion than other ships I've been on. But I should say that we had pretty calm seas. We were on Deck 2, near the back of the ship. It rattled quite a bit in that part of the ship. Others have reported that as well. A good bet for you would be to try for Deck 7, midship.

6376 is actually over the most forward part of the Hollywood Dance Club and farthest aft part of the Underground Tokyo arcade. Noisy? Yep... pretty good chance of it.

If you can relocate the cabin I'd say do it. We had cabin on the Upper Deck on the Conquest that was above the area where the band plays at the casino and bass certainly was impressive!!!

Unless the stabilizers simply don't function I'm sure they'll do the job their intended to do... prevent excessive roll. However, the ship has no mechanical means, like stabilizers, to prevent pitching.

Yes Mach, pitching was pretty intense Tuesday and Wednesday of last week while in our aft cabin 6-434. The reported 12 feet waves looked more like 20 feet swells to me.

There was virtually no motion while on deck 4 mid-ship so I'd say that if there was a problem with those stabilizers, it's fixed now.

Yes, the noise from the lounges immediately below us was very intense. We had a "white noise machine" though and if OP cannot switch cabins, I recommend taking one along.

Thanks for the helpful answers. I was able to change to deck 7 for an upgrade fee, but I think it will be worth it. I always bring my whitenoise machine with me too! However, if speakers are directly below me, I'm not sure the whitenoise will be enough...

Happy sailing to all!

Awesome! I'm glad you were able to upgrade. Sometimes on these boards, people are unnecessarily worried about their cabin location, but you definitely had reason to be. Deck 7 will be great. It's probably the best deck to be on with this ship, half way between the evening entertainment venues and the pool/buffet.

I just noticed you were asking about upgrades, probably referring to free or included upgrades. On some sailings at some times, they will have a Past Guest Rate which includes upgrade options. It consists of something along the lines of: pay for the cheapest balcony category and get to move up a floor or 2 or more for the same price. You must be a past guest. There is also a rate in which Carnival picks the room for you (Fun Saver or Pack & Go). It's a gamble. You may get a room above the dance club, or you may get a much better room. The cost is the same regardless of what room you are assigned to. However, the huge upgrades under these rates (such as balcony to suite) don't really happen anymore. It's possible, but highly unlikely.
