Azamara Journey ~ 1 year ago today..The HUGE Fireworks Display in Istanbul

Hi Everyone!

Azamara Journey was in Istanbul, Turkey last year on October 29th

October 29th very special day in Turkey as it is their Republic Day which is equivalent to the 4th of July in the USA...

An incredible fireworks display takes place every year in Istanbul which is considered one of the best in world.

While our port time departure was much earlier in the day as the itinerary was created over a year prior without knowledge of the significance of October 29th...

After extensive correspondence between myself and Azamara and many many factors behind the scenes. Azamara was able to change and extend the departure time by 5 hours.

So we could view the fireworks from the ship on the Bosphorus.

It was truly a once in a lifetime, destination immersion experience that Azamara gave us. It is something that my husband and I will never forget and I know many onboard the ship that day felt that same way.

Even Captain Jason participated in the celebration.

They looked spectacular. Loved the star shaped patterns. I think you said you were up on deck 11 by the shuffleboard. The ships horn must have scared the you know whats out of you!

I was on that cruise. Got me hooked on Azamara! It was a great cruise, and the fireworks were spectacular! Thank you for the reminder of a great vacation! (if only we could have done something about the rain the day prior to this). Nancy:p:p:p
