znebul82 Posted November 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2011 Does anyone know when Carnival typically starts decorating for Christmas around their ships? We will be sailing on the Conquest 12/4, any chance they would be up by then?

duck512 Posted November 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2011 The ships should be decorated for the 12/4 sailing. We sailed a couple of times right after Thanksgiving and they were decorated nicely. The Christmas music was a bit much on a caribbean cruise! Rare Tapi Posted November 7, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2011 We sailed on December 6th last year and the ship was also decorated for "The Holidays". They also had a "Holiday" show featuring a special appearance by a "Holiday" character, and they played "Holiday" songs! For some reason, they were very careful about NOT using the word Christmas on anything they printed. I guess they didn't want to offend those who don't celebrate Christmas even though the ship was blatantly catering to those who DO. They even played songs that included the "C" word (Christmas)

They even played songs that included the "C" word (Christmas) We've noticed the same on CCL. Unlike HAL where the ships are grandly decorated for CHRISTMAS and the C word is used onboard, CCL seems more concerned with being "politically correct." As Christians, we enjoy observing the Menorah lighting ceremonies on CCL but we also wish everyone a Merry Christmas and would gladly accept greetings from those of other faiths who happen to be onboard. :)

scooterpopsnana Posted November 8, 2011 #14 Share Posted November 8, 2011 I've got my stockings ready for our door and a 12" tabletop tree ready. I will leave the tree and if they want to use it, they can or they can toss it. Can't wait. Sail Dec. 9th.
GRAMMYTAN Posted November 8, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 8, 2011 We did a back to back starting on Dec 4 last year on the Elation and it was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We took a small tree, some garland, gel type stick on's, and santas to decorate our cabin. We also took a couple of Santa hats and Christmas sweaters and mmy DH took a Christmas tie and red shirt. The pictures we took on the ship and in Cozumel with our hats and Christmas shirts were done in plenty of time to put into our Christmas cards when we got home. JeffHatfield Posted November 8, 2011 #16 Share Posted November 8, 2011 How long do they keep up the decorations, I'll be a Jan 8th sailing? On the two New Years Cruises we have been on, they start taking down the decorations right after the New Years Party and by the morning of Jan 1 they are all gone.
