Complimentary upgrade from SS on Eurodam?

We're booked on the Eurodam for an Eastern Caribbean cruise in March. We have an SS cabin (7079) reserved and we're pleased with the size and location.

Our TA asked us today, however, if we would be willing to accept a complimentary upgrade if offered and, from everything we can see on the deck plans, it would be a "no brainer" in this case.

We can't find a bad location for any cabins (SC, SB or SA) that would be upgrades from SS, but this is only our second cruise so we're seeking advice from more experienced travelers.

Any guidance for us? Thanks!

Complimentary upgrade means that HAL chooses your cabin and location. You may receive a higher category but it could be a less desirable location.

I just booked Eurodam and agree that it looks safe to take a possible upgrade but I prefer to know my location and marked my booking no upgrades and paid the higher price rather than booking a guarantee

If you get offered a comp upgrade, you also have the right to refuse it. So if you are offered one, see if your TA could find out if HAL would tell them an exact cabin location and if so, decide then. You never know!

Free upgrades aren't "offered" by HAL, they're just done, and then you're told about it. By saying you will accept one you're giving HAL the option to put you wherever they like. (Actually they have that right in all cases, but specifically-chosen cabins are rarely changed. We had one changed one time: three cabins down the hall, same class.) If you get a free upgrade in a location you don't like you may be able to get it changed, but it isn't easy.

Thanks for your helpful responses! We've looked over all the decks on the Eurodam, and we don't think we see an SC, SB, or SA location on the Eurodam that would be a problem. If anyone has ever been assigned to one that was problematic, we'd appreciate hearing from you. Otherwise we'll enjoy the advantages of the deluxe suite amenities if we get upgraded!
