luvtravelms Posted November 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2011 Any suggestions on a descent but not terribly expensive hotel near the port oi Miami? Would be great if it had a shuttle to the port.
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2011 A good place to post is the Florida Departures Board where you'll get a lot of input on Hotels. You could check out the Holiday Inn at Bayside. A taxi will run about $10.00 to the port. Other options to consider are the downtown Hyatt and Marriott hotels. Another nice one and the one I would recommend first is the Intercontinental but I am not sure what you'll think of the price. All of these hotels are a short driving by taxi to the port. debshomespun Posted November 30, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2011 You may want to check out hotwire or priceline for a great price in Miami. Check out the Downtown locations, very close to the port and Bayside Marketplace. Jan/Feb/March are very expensive for hotels in Southern Florida. High Season. kitkat9438 Posted November 30, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2011 Go to Lastminute travel dot com. Put in Miami and 5 stars. The first hotel that pops up is the Intercontinental (although you can't see the name). It's on the bay right across the bridge from the pier. Since it's a 5 star hotel it is excellent and you can get a great view of the ship out the window when you wake up. Also just a short walk along the boardwalk is the Bayside Market Place that has plenty of dining options and there's a Walgreens nearby for last minute items. We got it for around $95 last year. It was a steal. The taxi to the pier was very cheap. we also took a taxi down to South Beach for a visit.
Fblack Posted November 30, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2011 If you are staying at a hotel near the pier, I would not worry about finding a hotel with a free shuttle as well. We stayed at the Downtown Miami Hilton via Celebrity and had a free transfer included. We avoided the lines for the free transfer and took a taxi. $8 to the ship. Tip extra. So don't worry about the cost.
negc Posted November 30, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2011 Try priceline to get a very good discounted price. If you get a hotel in the downtown area you aren't likely to find any that offer a free shuttle to the pier, but taxi prices are quite reasonable. If you stay near the airport, a free shuttle is more likely available. Personally, I prefer one that is in the downtown area and has a view of the ships docked at the cruise terminals. :) Remember that hotel prices will vary considerable depending on your dates of travel. kitkat9438 Posted December 1, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 1, 2011 Uh... Just did this and it worked. 111$ booked us a night there :D. Glad it worked out for you! You just saved a couple hundred easy. It's an awesome hotel. We ate at Bubba Gumps over at Bayside and also walked over in the morning for breakfast. Although a cab ride down to South Beach will net you some great restaurants. We ate at Joe's Steak and Crab one night and it was awesome. Enjoy!
