Complimentary shuttles ??

I'll give you three examples from this year:

Bergen - free shuttles into town, lots of them. Excellent! Wheelchair shuttles into town square, but then they didn't bother coming back for us as arranged, just a fractured service with 1 x six seater late in the afternoon. Big queue of unhappy wheelers and buggy riders.

Boston - A commercial shuttle service, heavily advertised on board and at the quay. $13 return or $10 one-way from Quincy Market. A total rip-off, would have been cheaper in a taxi. The bozos collecting money didn't have or want to offer change, it cost the guy in front of me over the odds.

Corner Brook - One old coach and a yellow school bus put on by the locals. Very friendly and offering freebies to the massive slow moving queue. The town was such a disappointment many didn't get off the bus, just drove around and came back to the ship.

Of our other 11 ports on two cruises, no shuttles provided or commerical services offered. But nowhere more than 15-20 minutes walk into the centre of town.

The Cap'n is about right with what he says.

If you enquire in advance about shuttles, Cunard can't tell you what will be available. They just tell you to ask once on board. Even then, the information isn't always available until afer the port presentations. However, they can help with advance arrangements for private facilities but the prices will make your eyes bleed.

Does Cunard operate free shuttle buses in European ports ?

There are no free shuttle buses in Copenhagen. You have to pay for the town bus or the Ho-ho. You have also have to pay for the shuttle in Helsinki. There’s no need for a shuttle in Vigo, Stavanger or Flamm as the ship docks right near the shops.

As the Cap’n says, the shuttles are supplied by the local commerce. The locals usually hand you a town map either just outside the shuttle bus or inside it.

While we are talking about free (or otherwise) shuttles -- what about Zeebrugge?? I have heard that there is a shuttle that takes passengers to Blankenburge (where you can get a train to Brugges or the coastal tram)??

Yes, we got the free shuttle from Zeebrugge to Blankenberge and from there the train to Bruges. The journey is only about 10 minutes but they only run every hour.
