Alisamontreal Posted December 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2011 Hi all. Has anyone who actually knows what a Bloody Caesar is (mostly us crazy Canadians :D) know whether they serve them on the Eurodam? For anyone who isn't familiar with the drink, it's basically a Bloody Mary made with Clamato instead of tomato juice - a mix of tomato and clam juice. Thanks! peaches from georgia Posted December 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2011 Haven't been on the Eurodam, but have had Blood Caesars on all the HAL ships we've been on. Love when they set up the Bloody Mary/Caesar bar at the Lido pool late morning with many brands of vodka and all the trimmings, clamato included. It's not done every day, unfortunately, but it's nice. :)
Rare boards Posted December 6, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2011 The drink Bloody Mary was offered on the Oosterdam in Nov. and they were really good. The drink was decorated to two large shrimp, MMM mmm Good.
Rare kazu Posted December 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2011 I haven't been on the Eurodam but on her sister ship. what I love about HAL is that they usually have clamato juice. (Yup, they know there are Canadians on board:)). Our most recent, I asked for spicey and it was delicious! I think you will be ok = have a great cruise:D

Himself Posted December 7, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2011 I have NEVER had a Bloody Caesar in my life and from the description I probably will not take one.
cruz chic Posted December 7, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2011 Love that drink and they had them on the Eurodam in Sept. As a matter of fact they have had them on every dam ship. They make a good one too!
Jo-Bob Posted December 7, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 7, 2011 In my part of Canada, it's just called a "Caesar," no need to add the 'bloody.' It's well known what is being referred to. Particularly good with pickled asparagus.
Alisamontreal Posted December 7, 2011 Author #9 Share Posted December 7, 2011 Himself - You'd be surprised how good they are! 'Course you have to like tomato juice, but don't let the clam reference turn you off - It just makes them richer and yummier - especially with hot and spicy clamato! pjck71 Posted December 7, 2011 #10 Share Posted December 7, 2011 what I love about HAL is that they usually have clamato juice. I've never had the clamato with vodka, but we have it with beer all the time (red beer or cheladas). I'll definitely have to try it with vodka now (LOL) and I'm happy to see HAL will probably have the clamato if I decide to have a red beer while we're away :)
Rare boards Posted December 7, 2011 #11 Share Posted December 7, 2011 In Canada (at least in Windsor) a bloody mary is tomato juice and beer, a "Caeser" is made either with clamato juice or tomato juice and spiced up. For sure whatever they called on the Oosterdam it was gooooood.
YOW Posted December 7, 2011 #12 Share Posted December 7, 2011 In Canada (at least in Windsor) a bloody mary is tomato juice and beer What's it called when you add a raw egg to that? (hangover cure)
CHOPPERTESTER Posted December 7, 2011 #13 Share Posted December 7, 2011 Save some $$ Before you board hit the Publix and buy 2 - six packs of clamato mixer, say $6. When you get on board, order the 1 liter vodka bottle from room service ($26). Hit the Lido buffet and grab some celery sticks. Put it all in your room cooler. Now you can have a dozen caesars on your balcony!

CANDYAPPLE Posted December 7, 2011 #15 Share Posted December 7, 2011 Just happen to be enjoying my second Caesar as I read this thread!!!! Yep, the "dam" ships we have been on and in fact, the last few other lines all seem to stock Motts Clamato Juice. The problem is, I have to "train" the bartenders in the proper way to make mine the way I like 'em. Rim the glass with salt/pepper mix (this they don't usually have available", 5 ice cubes, 3 oz. Absolut "black", (if available) worchester sauce, lots of lime (NO lemon) plenty of shakes of Tabasco, then give me the bottle to make it spicey, and a celery stalk (from the middle of the bunch) Now we're talkin' !! Cheers CANDYAPPLE
illinoisfive Posted December 8, 2011 #16 Share Posted December 8, 2011 the only way to have a bloody mary is with clamato and at the end add a bit of beer (any king) and it cuts the acidity of the tomato juice! enjoy!
