You need a steady hand! Get the necessary supplies (paint, glue, brushes) first. Have somewhere to stand pieces and hold in place while they are drying. Have a clear work area, so you can find all the bits you need and not lose them.

It depends on piece size, but it's hard to do a great job model making unless you've had lots of experience/practice and have the right tools/workspace - it's very fiddly.

That one should be extremely easy.

Just a little tip - the funnels were not as yellow as the movie and many pictures make out. They were in fact a darker yellow close to a weathered brass type colour. Many of the deck fittings were green. The well decks lower half were flat brown instead of the long suspected red. Use flat colours and avoid gloss colours. enamel paints are often the best ones to go for.

I think what you have got will be easy.

I have done the minicraft version a much larger 1/350 scale model complete with brass photo etch parts for railing, fine monofilament thread for rigging. Much of the rigging for the funnels I had to thread through decks and parts during assembly and pull tight once in place.

It just takes an extremely patient person do do stuff like that.

I have done a few over the years. This link will show Force Z - HMS Repulse and HMS Prince of Wales - the paints I used here are an exact match to the camouflage scheme used at the time according to official RN records: http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/295710_10150324517689037_519959036_8152921_214629671_n.jpg

I only did some cause I was in the Navy a while back and served on the HMAS Brisbane - even made my own model of that in 1/350 scale: http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/199834_10150140608129037_519959036_6640698_1371630_n.jpg
