mamasue Posted December 21, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2011 Call the cruiseline or TA... pay the extra, and they'll upgrade you. That's the only certain way!!
cb at sea Posted December 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2011 An "upgrade" is free...and quite rare. An "upsell" is getting a better cabin, for a price! You will seldom, if ever, get something for nothing.
dons_shopper Posted December 25, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 25, 2011 I amon the Norwegian Dawn Feb 5, 2012 for ten days. This is a first for us. My friend said to try and get an upgrade. We are inside cabin. How do you do this and when should we do this The question is how much time do you plan on spending in your cabin and for the amount of time with daylight - how much are you willing to pay for the difference. We mostly have inside cabins because we are not often in the cabin except at night. We will be on the dawn and chose a cabin with porthole as a compromise to have some daylight but without spending that much more money. the size of an inside or outside cabin is usually the same. Last time we had a minisuite and balcony and it was fabulous. But we only chose it because the price was great. Hopefully I didn't confuse you more. And your actual question: Your TA can help you with that.
Starry Eyes Posted December 25, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 25, 2011 It seems like your cruise is selling pretty well. All minisuites and balconies are sold out already...There are about 8 suites showing available if you want to spend significantly more money. There seem to be about 50 ocean view cabins available if you want to pay more for a cabin with some natural light. You can compare the price you paid to the current asking price for an OV os suite...you may find you will have to pay significantly more to upgrade at the is point. NCL still has six weeks to sell those cabins. if there are still unsold cabin the last week or so before the cruise, NCL may call a few customers to offer them "upsells" to better cabin categories. I don't know how they decide you to call; NCL has not called me yet. Odds are they will not call you either. the only sure way to an upgrade is to call and offer to pay the price difference before they sell out. Krazy Kruizers Posted December 25, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 25, 2011 Quite a few people on HAL book guarantee cabins and the majority have been getting the free upgrades the last several months. Your best bet is to call Norweigan and ask how much it will cost you to do an "upsell".
