Greetings fellow cruisers and Happy Holidays! I need some advice on Nassau. Has anyone used Island Marketing for the Taste of Nassau Island Tour? Is this a good tour and a good company to work with? Also, has anyone been to Junkanoo Beach in Nassau lately? Is it clean and safe? Is it within walking distance from the ship? Thank you very much for your help!

Junkanoo Beach is perhaps a 15 minute walk from the pier. It can be fairly clean - or terribly littered - depends on how much time has passed since last clean-up -- which is certainly not daily. Whlie convenient to the pier, it is a second-rate beach because you are in Nassau harbor, and there is a fair amount of stuff (fuel residue, bits of trash, etc) in the water as in any big city harbor. it is worth the time to taxi or water-taxi across tho Paradise Island, and go to the public beach just East of the Atlantis.

We just got back from Nassau a couple of weeks ago and it appeared that Junkanoo beach was less crowed, "nicer", waters were more calm and the sand was softer. Granted, you are fairly close to the pier and would deal with the residual from the ships. Plus you are closer to Fish Fry. I have not tried it; but, it seems like EVERYONE was headed there.

We ended up going over to Cabbage beach near Atlantis on Paradise Island and I was not a fan. The beach was crowded, waves were really rough and it took forever to get the sand out. For some reason, it felt like the sand would just stick to you regardless of how much you try to get it off. This doesn't include some of the wreckless jet skiers. Granted, the owners of the jet skis did their best to keep people away from the swimmers; but, there were some close calls.
