PetitIon RCCL-On Board Alcohol Package Fleet Wide

Maybe if you are friend of Bill W or some killjoy.

What happens if you sit by the pool for 3 hours and have one an hour ( certainly not excessive) then you have a glass of wine with dinner ( certainly not excessive), then you have one cocktail during the show (again, certainly not excessive) and then finally you have a night cap in the casino while playing some blackjack ( again, one cocktail- not excessive).

I want you to keep in mind a 180 person can have one drink every hour to hour and a half for 9 hours and still not be over the legal limit to drive in most jurisdictions (.08 BAC)

To quote the illustrious Peter Griffin, you're more of a buzz kill than Buzz Killington.

Sorry No Buzz Kill here. Sure maybe that makes sense for one day but probably not everyday. For example there will likely be days you are off the ship. This is the break even point. Sure drink this much if you wish, just pay for each drink and it won't cost you any more than the package. The problem people are the ones drinking a lot more than your scenario.

No thank you RCCL

YES!!!!!!

But I'd also like a BETTER water package.

And I'd also like to be able to bring soda and/or water onboard ALL of the ships.

I'd also like to be able to bring a couple bottles of wine onboard the ships.

I guess I'll stick with Celebrity until RCI comes to its' senses....

May I ask how you knew the 'drunk rowdy people' purchased the alcohol package???

Stickers on cards when they got drinks.... Loudly telling people they had to drink their share etc...... Trust me it was clear!

After nearly 6 months and over 300 posts (mostly in favor), it doesn't look like this thread is having any effect whatsoever.

Indeed. It's just a fun thread on a discussion board that OP started in hopes of actually changing the corporation's minds about this issue. There is far too much money to be made with individual drinks to offer a package.

Does this go on over at Celebrity too?? You did want them to take a leaf out of Celebrit'y book so was wondering if you sailed on those ships and found them to be a drunk fest?

You know, I do hear of a small few that will go in the CL or DL and brag they need to drink as much as they can in 3 hours to get the bar bill down. Wonder if they should get rid of that perk because of a possible few small offenders.

Need everyone who reads to this to reply with a yes.

Royal Caribbean has introduced an on board alcohol package on three ships. Its not cheap but its cheaper than bar charges if you indulge more than a couple of drinks a day.

Its a good deal for those clients that would like a more reasonable costing of their drinks, and

It'sgood for Royal Caribbean as it provides a reasonable alternative to those who would otherwise breach the no bringing booze on board policies.

Carnival is very successful with their Bon Voyage Packages. And, many guests are taking the package and abandoning sneaking booze aboard.

Need to promote this idea get alcohol package options on RCCL.

Rely with a yes.

FWIW, Rum Runners are a common thread on the Carnival board. I don't think their Bon Voyage packages deter too many.

YES!!!

That was one of the best parts of our Celebrity Silhouette sailing! We did not see any obviously drunk / rowdy people. It was such a simple solution to all those pieces of paper to sign and keep track of! The bar staff seemed to like it as well- less work for them and the service never suffered! I am still hoping it will come to the Explorer by the time we sail next year

In defence when we have sailed on celebrity we have not noticed the similar 'drunk' and 'rowdy' crowd. I personally do not like to be in a rowdy drunken environment (in my opinion) - being happy and comfortable in surrondings is much more my preference. Maybe I am old before my time.

Others on this board have commented that the bar staff slow down when serving people who have 'had' a drink.... this was not my impression, the staff seemed happy to serve as much as people wanted. Maybe this was part of the situations we noticed or maybe it was the clientele on that particular cruise - I can only comment on my opinion. It may be just a 'few' offenders however, the 'few' seemed to accumulate in the similar locations on the ship spoiling it for others - as I say this is my opinion. As you will no doubt agree when people are 'drunk' then they often do not see anything wrong in the way they are behaving nor do they show much concern for their fellow cruisers. If having to force oneself to drink sufficient to meet/exceed the economics of buying a package then maybe for people who do not like to drink to excess the pay as you go method is still the best option - it certainly works for us.

It would be much worse without Bon Voyage and the 1 bottle of wine P.P..

My family cruised Disney before we moved to Royal Caribbean when my kids reached their late teens and wanted more on the ship, (and we now LOVE RC!) but I still fail to see why every cruise line doesn't permit a limited amount of alcohol to be brought on board. However, if they won't change their policy on allowing it, then I think that offering a drink package is more than reasonable!

YES for the option but the price and flexibility of its use would determine whether I would see it as worthwhile.

Every Cruise I have been on so far (mixture of Thomson and MSC) the cost of the package has been greater than what I have spent through the On board Account. Not much of a drinker. We might have a couple of drinks during the day and then a couple in the evening and even then some of these drinks will be non alcoholic.
