Carnival - which pier - beach

Will be on the Carnival Conquest arriving in Cozumel March 2, 2012. Does anyone know what pier Carnival docks at? Also is there a beach in walking distance from that pier? Or can anyone suggest a good beach. Don't care for Paradise Beach. Been there before at PB and it's too crowded and the water wasn't that great. Too cloudy and too much sea weed.

Thanks for your help. Carol

Carnival usually docks at Puerta Maya. Might try Nachi Cocum Beach Club. They only allow 100 guests a day and its very uncrowded. Beach and water conditions are hard to predict. Tides, storms (even if they are miles away) can make the water murky and bring waves ashore that pile up the seaweed.

You'll have 7 ships in port that day so if you want to go to Nachi, you need to see if you can book now. Places like Sunset Beach and Playa Uvas will most likely be crowded with ship excursions and will Paradise Beach and Mr. Sanchos. I agree with OKC Cruiser that water conditions are difficult to predeict. If you're searching for a quieter beach and Nachi is booked, try Alberts Beach or Playa Palancar, both are just south of Nachi but typically get less crowds than beaches closer to the piers. Both have good facilities (albeit no fresh water pools) and excellent food. You don't need reservations at either.
