rental car in houston, instead of hiring a driver

so considering renting a car for the duration of our cruise

its only about 50$ more than hiring a driver to take us from houston to galveston..

 

 

im wondering about the drive down from hobby airport

is it a straight shot? easy?

 

im afraid of getting lost somehwere ive never been

Don't think that you can get lost going from Hobby to the Island. Go east on Airport Blvd. (street in front of Hobby) for a few blocks, turn right on the feeder road for I 45, get on the freeway and keep on driving until you're on Galveston Island.

You will not get lost...If you are flying in the day before your cruise then I would say rent the car. That way you could check out Galveston; perhaps take the ferry across the bay.
