labguides Posted January 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Anyone do a HAL Maasdam Montreal to Boston or reverse in mid May? I appreciate any/all imput. I have done a Fall New England cruise, but never a spring one.
sail7seas Posted January 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2012 I read your other thread about not seeing an itinerary for May 2013. Did you find where they have it listed? We live near Boston and can tell you to expect coolish weather. Spring time in Boston can be beautiful. Depending how early in the month, you may not find all tourist things fully open and ready for the season but by Memorial Day most is ready. Any specific questions you have? We have done Maasdam's Canada/New England cruise b-to-b, Boston to Montreal to Boston, annually for years. Do a search on this forum and you'll find reams written about this itinerary. We think it one of HAL's best short cruises.
SJSULIBRARIAN Posted January 6, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2012 We did the first Montreal to Boston cruise on the Maasdam last May 2011. Due to the high level of the St. Lawrence River last year, we were taken by bus to Quebec City and boarded there - spending two nights in QC which was very nice. The weather last year was less than perfect. Rocky seas, wind, rain, and cold in all ports except Quebec City and Bar Harbor. But that did not deter us from having a great time with the friends whom we were with. I hope to do this cruise again but in June or July. The weather last year was bad but that is something you never know about in advance. Barbara
cruisequeen10 Posted January 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2012 I am on the June 23rd sailing and am looking for a hotel in Boston that is in the downtown area, nice, but not expensive.
