Lanyard for sailing pass - carnival pride

The lanyard That the casino hands out is just a stretchy cord and your card in punched and threaded onto the ring.

The only lanyard with a plastic card holder that I've seen on the ship is for sale in the gift shop.

Unless you are a kid, skip the laynards.

It's not a good look.

They make you look like a cheesy tourist...

I am a cheesy tourist:D:p

Many womens pants do not have usuable pockets. Saw a great pair of travel pants at Kohls a while back. The front pockets had zippers on them, fit nice, then opened the zipper. No pocket:mad:. In mens clothes if it looks like a pocket, it IS a pocket. Not so in womens clothing.

Hate the feeling of plastic in my bra. Don't want to keep track of a purse. Around my neck it goes.

I always check the pockets before buying ladies pants. I've noticed that sometimes there is what looks to be a fake pocket, but if you look at it, inside out, there really is a pocket. You just have to get a scissors or seam ripper and open it. Very strange. This is especially true of back pockets. I don't know why the manufacturer does that.

I am also the cheesy tourist. Funny, on our European tour we took the tour operator REQUIRED that we have a lanyard for our passport and credit cards. That way it would be with us at all times in case we got robbed. I don't think they look cheesy at all.

Lots of times pockets in women's pants are basted closed prior to purchase. Not sure why, but maybe to keep them looking good until they have a permanent home? Maybe it's a security thing? You know, keeping someone from tucking a little something extra into the pocket before purchasing the pants?

In any case, I always check the pockets if they appear to be sewn closed. Most of the time, they're real pockets.

I know that to be the case, especially in the better made clothing. In this case the stitching went around the zipper (on the inside of the pants) no basting to rip out. Truly a false pocket:mad:

I don't mind looking like a "cheesy tourist" at all when we're on a cruise. I rarely carry my purse around the ship and I don't like sticking my card in a pocket where it could fall out. I like my lanyard with the Carnival logo, so I will be taking it and using it on my Freedom cruise in a couple of weeks.

I have gotten to the point where I really don't care what other people think of what I'm wearing, or not wearing. I'll probably never see them again anyway. :)

Our first cruise I was too timid to take pictures of our food, wondering "what people would think" with me whipping out a camera all the time at dinner. I don't care anymore, and I snap away!! :)

Agreed! Unlike men's clothing, even if you had pockets they will never be in the same place on two sets of clothes. It gives me piece of mind to know that my card will be in the same place every time.

I still have the old ones Carnival used to give out that is a pouch with a zipper in back for cash and a plastic pocket in the front. I can't tell you how many people ask me where to get one on every cruise. (you can't get them anymore)

I crochet or knit little purses, just big enough for the sign and sail card and maybe some lip balm. They can be made into what ever colors I am planning to wear. I can leave them on my lap while eating in the MDR, or some I make long straps that I can slip across. I get a lot of coments from female passengers that they would like to have them, so if you know someone who does needle arts maybe you can get a few made before your trip.

Check Amazon for something called a "badge reel". It extends when needed, yet reels back in when not. And it will clip on your clothes. You will need to punch two holes right next to each other get the translucent clip through your sign and sail or get a little plastic cover that you hang from your clip and don't poke a hole through your sign and sail at all. I usually just punch the holes though. (get the services desk to do it since they know where it should be on your card. (don't punch it on the strip and make sure you punch it on the right end so you can put your card in the door to your cabin.

Edited to add, I usually clip it somewhere low, like my waist, so it's not so obviously there.

Picking out a lanyard for cruising was part of the fun... We used our Colonial Williamsburg ones for our first cruise. This next one we got new ones.. I have Tinkerbell and my husband got Carolina Panthers. Can't wait to wear it!! :D

I have used a lanyard attached to a holder.

The holder holds my sign and sail card and my driver license with a few 1. bills between for tips- along with my drink coupons.

It all stays together in one neat little pile-- it hangs in the cabin when I get ready for bed. I dont have to worry about something getting misplaced nor do I worry about not having my photo id when I am getting off the ship.
