GTY cabin assigned before final payment

It seems like we have been on both ends of the extreme this year.

 

Last cruise we didn't have a cabin number until 4 days before we sailed and just now we got one nearly 90 days out and well before final payment.

 

It was an in category "upgrade" fwiw.

 

Anyone else seeing odd timing on GTY cabin assignment?

We got our assignment around June 10th for the October 29th repo on the CB. Six catagories - BF to BA!!

We have been using the obstructed view GTY. Until now, we have had cabin assignment prior to final payment. We are currently 36 days out with no cabin assignment. My readings here on CC indicate this is not too uncommon, so I'm hoping the upgrade fairy is still negotiating for us.

The timing depends on the cruise and available cabins in each category, which changes with each cruise. I booked a GTY for my March 2013 cruise last April and still haven't been assigned a cabin.

Yeah we got ours assigned back in Oct or Nov for our March 2012 Hawaii cruise. Upgraded from a lowest category inside (M?) to the highest (I?)...

I have had a cabin assigned and an upgrade given within an hour of "holding a cabin" - even before putting a deposit down.

I booked a GG Gty. for the Golden to Alaska in May and got my cabin this week - a C category window. I'm happy with it!:D
