Reserving lounge chairs by the pool

The Eurodam will be our first cruise, at the end of this month. After reading about the retreat cabanas, we have decided not to rent one, since it is just the 2 of us. My parents are just back from a cruise and said that it was almost impossible to find a lounge chair by the pool because everyone left their towels on one early in the day and never removed them, in essence saving them. Is this the way it's done, or is there a time limit on unoccupied loungers?

Thanks,

HAL places rolled up towels on the lounge chairs for passenger convenience. This does not signify that the lounger is "reserved". Very rarely have we noticed passengers attempting to be 'chair hogs' by placing personal possessions on a lounger to stake their claim.

It's reasonable to expect one to "reserve" their chair for a few minutes while they use the restroom. Or for a little while while they are in the pool that's right there. Or for a few minutes while they get a plate of food to bring back---not to eat inside.

But that's about it.

DH will use lounger -- I no longer can so I get a chair and sir beside him.

When one of us needs to use the restroom, the other one saves the chair.

Neither of us go away for a long time. When we are ready to leave -- we both go together and clean up our towels.

On sea days there are a lot more chair hogs than on port days.
