Tim,n,Sue Posted January 18, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2012 Sounds like he's lawyered up already ( and they sound like American lawyers;):D If he had American lawyers they would have told him to shut up, keep a low profile and don't talk to anyone without them being present. This man just keeps digging a bigger and bigger hole for himself.

ddgleason Posted January 18, 2012 #16 Share Posted January 18, 2012 Then why didn't he "trip" right back to the ship when the port authority told him to go back on board and supervise the evacuation? Does this man feel ANY remorse at all for his actions???

jebuell Posted January 19, 2012 #21 Share Posted January 19, 2012 Wow. You think he would've thought out his defense a little better... This is getting almost comical. If all of those people hadn't lost their lives and their families are suffering as a result, I may almost laugh.
Dave85 Posted January 19, 2012 #22 Share Posted January 19, 2012 I came across this article on the Costa board... I didn't realize that this captain didn't even give the order to abandon ship! It was another off-duty Costa captain who just happened to have hitched a ride on the ship to the next port... unbelievable! This story gets crazier and crazier. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/9022902/Costa-Concordia-captains-actions-disgraceful-says-cruise-ships-reluctant-hero.html If the account in that article is true, I think it proves the extent to which Schettino is a outlier among captains (and that the other captain acted heroically). Topaz_M Posted January 19, 2012 #24 Share Posted January 19, 2012 Ohhh ... so he "tripped" into the lifeboat with a blanket around him ?? And then didn't return to the ship when ordered to by the Coast Guard ?? He deserves everything coming his way ... ;)
