Question for fellow gamblers....

We're going to be on the Allure in May and just wondering if the following games are available: Casino War and Video Poker - full 9/6 payout? I've been to Vegas many times and other than table blackjack, I've enjoyed these games. :D

Video poker has been available on almost every cruise ship I've ever taken (10 or so). But you're dreaming if you're hoping for 9/6 (or anything close to it) for jacks or better, no wild cards, draw poker. I'm trying to recall if I've ever seen anything better than 7/5 onboard a cruise ship casino, and some have even been 6/5. Makes it tough to win. I tend to place minimum bets on the quarter machines onboard (I'm a max-bet guy on better machines in Vegas) just to stretch out my playing time a bit.

Thanks for your reply! And you're right...I was dreaming and thinking that there's no way 9/6 would be available on a cruise. Still, I'm glad to hear that there are poker machines that exist. My last cruise was on Navigator and I don't recall any VP machines.

 

Good thinking on the minimum bet! I too only do max bets when I'm in Vegas but I can find 9/6 machines there! :)

Have never seen Casino War in RC.

 

Stay away from the BJ tournament. No skill - pure luck.

 

If you get cash on your sea pass card, it will cost you 3%.

Every ship will have video poker ... but as noted, 6/5 (ouchie). My mom won 4,000 quarters on a max-bet, natural royal playing deuces-wild, so I guess it is sometimes possible to win. ;)

Thanks for your reply! That's surprising that the BJ tournament has the same luck as slots tournament. Why do you think that is? Is it because they don't have enough skilled BJ players on the ship?

6/5?? That's ridiculous! What's the point in playing? Then again, I imagine that a good number of cruisers have no clue what those payouts mean...I bet the cruise lines are banking on that. :)

It is the format. If 7 people at a table, then 7 hands will be played with each player being first to bet once. Winner advances to semi-finals. If you must waste your cash, my suggestion is to go all in on first hand and prey.
