I just looked this up a couple days ago as I have to get one for my son:

Processing time:

 

ROUTINE SERVICE

As of ( Tuesday January 24, 2012 ), we are processing routine applications in approximately 4-6 weeks from the time of application.

 

 

EXPEDITED SERVICE

As of ( Tuesday January 24, 2012 ), we are processing requests for expedited service in about 2-3 weeks door-to-door, when overnight delivery is requested and paid for both ways (to and from the passport agency).

Recent reports show applications mailed in Dec. were returned two to three weeks later using standard processing.

My DW just had hers redone for a name change and used EXPEDITED SERVICE. We got the return in a little over a week.

We sent ours in late December and it took only 2 weeks without the expedited delivery. We were surprised to get them so quickly. I guess its slower that time of the year !?!

I sent off my renewal the last week of December via certified mail, check was cashed within three days, new passport in my hands in under two weeks, old one returned to me in under three weeks. This was NOT using expedited service.

We got a renewal for our 6 year old son (which at that age is considered a new application each time), on Nov 2/2011 and we received it without expedited service 9 days later.......was very surprised....I assume that processing times in Jan and Feb are probably a little longer.

We went to the post office January 9th in the afternoon and dropped off our children's renewal forms. We had passports in hand on january 20th. Not expedited service. I didn't even get a chance to track it!

Took me about 6 days with expedited service last November. I would expect to get a faster turn around on your application this time of year than during the summer travel months.

I just sent my DD's out for renewal about 2 weeks ago and was told that regular was running 2-4 weeks not the 4-6 showing on the website. Will let you know when it actually gets here.

We just went to the PO yesterday and sent in 2 renewals and 2 new applications. Was told that it would take about 3 weeks maybe less by the postal worker.

I was told 4 - 6 weeks and with my cruise 6 weeks out, I almost sprung for the expedited service but being the cheapscape that I am, I went with the regular processing. I also got mine in about 2 weeks. That seems to be the norm right now. Good luck!

I hope the samething happens to me. Applied last week and I travel at the end of feb. Didnt want to pay the extra for expedited service. Hope it comes quick so I wont have to spend the day in Miami trying to get it in person. :eek:

It's a slower time....after holiday rush but before summer rush. Daughter applied for new passport at the post office on January 10, got it back on 23rd with standard processing. Little less than two weeks.

I sent my application out mid-December and received my passport in 9 days. Was shocked. My DH sent his out a week later and got it back in 10 days. Was told 4-6 weeks by the man at the post office though.

I sent in my renewal on 12 January. It was back to me yesterday, the 25th. It was regular service. I was pleasantly surprised at the quick turnaround. My only dismay was how the cost keeps going up, up, up every time I renew.

Our's took exactly 3 weeks. Sent them 12/29/11 and received them on 01/18/12. Did not expedite. Our birth certificates took an extra week to show up.

I just ordered a passport card for my daughter for an April Cruise on Friday, January 13th and received it in the mail on Monday...January 23rd. :D

Sent my renewal application in late December and got the pp within 2 weeks. I was surprised it was so fast.

ordered DS's about a week or so before Christmas and less than two weeks had it in our hands. We did not expedite.

Just got Niece's (11yrs) and GingerBaby's (7mo) in less then 2 weeks (about 7/8 business days) and that included NewYear holiday. did not pay for expidite

I'm back!!! My daughter's passport came in today. So it took a total of 13 days regular shipping! Pretty fast turn around.

Got my passport today :D Less then 2 weeks and I did not pay to expedite it.
