We've been to Nassau before and thought about just staying on the ship for the day - then decided to try the All-inclusive Day Pass at the RIU - had a great time!!

Booked in advance on-line for $75 pp (reserved with $30 deposit) - would've been $100 pp walk-in. Our ship cleared at about 10:15 am but we were not in a rush so we packed a bag and walked to the street. Took a shared van for $6 pp - the others were all headed to Atlantis - so we stopped there first. Only about a 20 minute ride total.

Checked in at the RIU to get our bracelets and walked immediately to the lobby bar for our first drink!! Delicious Bombay Smash... headed for pool area - somewhat crowded but we got our towels and found two loungers together under an umbrella - immediately made friends with fellow New Englanders - saw our Pats hats!! Had another drink - headed for the pool to join in water aerobics - FUN!!! Then into the main dining area for great lunch buffet - offered a glass of wine by a very friendly wait staff person - couldn't turn him down! Then back to the swim up bar for some Kalik and more great conversation with new friends - LOVE how relaxed everyone was!! Some couples, some older folks like us and a few children...

Took a walk on the beach then decided it was time to head back to the ship. One more drink at the Lobby Bar and poured ourselves into an air conditioned cab. Would definitely do this again and may take a 4-5 night trip there over the holidays with family - folks we talked to said the rooms are decent and the casino is just next door.

We are going to the RIU next week. You mentioned you got towels, did you bring them from the ship or do they have them at RIU?

Also how do you pronounce RIU?

Thanks for the information. My best friend and I have reserved day passes for the RIU in April and I was beginning to wonder if we'd made a mistake since there was so few reviews. It seems most people are going to the Hilton. It sounds like we will have a great day.
