I emailed Riu and asked about the day pass and where to buy it. This is the response I got from them....

The cost is $75 for adults, $60 for teens, $50 for child (3-11 years), Free for childs 2 years old and under.

 

The day pass package includes:

-Free Open bar (18 years of age and over)

-Delicious Buffets.

-Comfortable beach chairs.

-Seaside pool.

-Swim up pool bar

 

Resort Hours: 9am to 5pm

Here's some info that may be helpful

 

RUI All inclusive is located on Paradise Island next to Atlantis. RUI guests do not get access to the Atlantis except for the casino and marina village, same as any other non-guest.

 

RUI's lobby is beautiful and you get a bit of an upscale feel when you arrive.

 

RUI has good drinks, good food and a small swim up pool. It does not have poolside service. You must get your own drinks unless you are at the swim up bar.

 

The Beach at the RUI is between the Atlantis and public beach, so you may find non-guests on the beach as well. It's down a flight of stairs from the pool and bar area.. so getting drinks means fetching them from the pool bar.. up the stairs. There is no beach service to my knowledge. Never seen it.

 

RUI in general is a DIY vacation.. they are light on the activities. Not hawking bingo and fashion shows and rock climbing like a club med vacation... but there are impromptu volleyball games. Although I don't think it's an everyday occurance... as I've only seen it once.

 

This is not an adults only vacation as you'll see plenty of strollers, kids in the pool and babies with swimming diapers (ewww).

 

Keep in mind that since this property is on cabbage Beach, it's subject to beach closings when the wind comes in from the North. This beach can be rough at times, and has an erosion problems (same as Atlantis and cabbage Beach). On the plus side, it's a great walking beach.. as it goes on for a mile or more along the Paradise Island shore. Beach vendors are allowed. Jet skis and parasailing nearby.. can get noisy.

 

 

Breezes is located at Cable Beach - about 5 miles west of port. The have a large set of pools, sometimes only one is open. The place itself is cheesy, 70's style. Reminds me of Kellermans in "Dirty Dancing" But the beach is great, booze is flowing, bar food is good (buffet is horrible).

 

There is no beach or poolside service, but the beach is just a short walk from the bar, and there are no stairs .. They generally serve low end brands, but if you ask, they usually have name brands behind the bar.. just ask.

 

This property has more scheduled activities, rock walls, trapeze, bingo etc.

You will know you are at a resort.. the announcements over the loud speaker can get annoying if you are just trying to relax.

This property is for those who:

• Don't want to see or hear children
  
• Need to be active
  
• Want to get blasted.
  

The beach is wide and beautiful and prone to pesky vendors. Jet skis are nearby. This beach is significantly calmer than cabbage beach.. rarely closed.

 

If you want to relax.. you can drag your chair down the beach a ways.. but they you are further from the bar.

My husband and I will be on the Fantasy 05/09/12 as well. We haven't been booked long so we have made no plans as of yet.

Just booked RIU Palace yesterday for 05/11/12. done some research and looks pretty good, hopefully it will be nice. Will let everyone know how it was when i return from my trip, since nobody seems to really know.

There is no real snorkeling from the beaches in Nassau / Paradise Island.. Sheraton has a small rock formation that has some juvenile sea life, but nothing to write home about.

 

If you need snorkeling, you'll have to book a boat tour.

Yes, of course Day pass is beneficial. This pass includes an open bar with unlimited domestic and top brands. With it many services are also include within pass. You can also enjoy beach volleyball at the resort.

I've been reading this thread. We will be in Nassau in March. Both sound good, but which one is usually more crowded? If the ship offers a day pass to Breezes and non-guests are at RIU, are they both packed? I want a relaxing day, with no little kids running around (tweens and teens don't bother me), and good drinks. Which one is better for this?

 

Also, an RIU day pass can be purchased in advanced. Is there a way to get a Breezes day pass in advance?:confused:

You're going during spring break.. there is no place except Sandals that won't be overrun with drunken kids. Breezes will be the worst.

Our island is over-run today... the week of the 4th we have so many people we usually don't even leave the house except for work.

 

During the winter about 3-4000 people live here, during this week it's about 25,000 and on the 4th another 5-10,000 jam onto the beaches. Yikes!:eek: At least it's mostly families but you still gotta watch out for the wandering tourists... they know not where they walk.

It's funny when people complain about cruising/land vacation during spring break and all the "drunks".... it happens every year! We know it's going to be this way on the 4th and we deal with it.

Not that I'm aware of. I believe Breezes is available on a first come basis. Unless you're coming during peak season (spring break or Xmas) you shouldn't have a problem.

Day Passes are not available in advance. They are available only on a first come basis. Available based on occupancy for the day, weddings and events. I suggest you call the resort before heading out .. since they seem to turn people away quite a bit.

 

Day passes begins at 10am. and runs to 5pm.

We did the RIU day pass last week and had a great time. This makes 3 of the all-inclusive day passes that we have done. The best was Sandals followed by the RIU then the Paradise Harbour Resort.

We will be traveling next month and I have been trying to research a day pass option, b/c that is really all we want to do in Nassau is go to the beach. I just saw the Paradise Harbour Resort option and thought that would be a good fit over the others only b/c it's less money and seems closer to the ship. Not sure if the later is true. I noticed you rated it as third out of the three that you've done, can you give me some insight as to why that is? What I'm really looking for is sandy beach (not rocky), calm waters (not too wavy) and peace... oh and drinks and food.

She posted in another thread that the place is totally run down and over-run with drunks. Evidently the only reason to go there is in fact to become drunk.

If you want a beach to hang out at, this place is not it. The beach at Paradise Harbour Resort is very small, I don't think it is 20 by 20 feet. There is a chain link fence there that catches a lot of garbage, not very pretty. It is cheap and the beer is cold with good food. When we were there we were the only ones off of a cruise ship. The place was not over run by drunks.

We will be cruising in on October 4th 2014 on the Carnival Fantasy and was wondering if anyone has done the RIU daypass recently? What amenties do they offer and is it ok for kids? i've read lots of different reviews and now have mixed feelings about the place. Any input would help.

We visited RIU about a year ago. For anyone doubting the value let me say it will surpass your expectations. This is a very well appointed ,classy, elegant hotel right next to Atlantis. Your day pass gives you full use of the hotel amenites. Dont eat before you go. You will be given a full 5 star breakfast and lunch included in the price. The room is very large and features any and all breakfast options from croissants to made to order omlets. There is a full juice bar with mimosas , bagels, with many toppings, waffles fruit , etc.. It is a banquet hall. For lunch ( if you have room ) there is a vast array of dining options from burgers to island fare. Many side dishes from cold to hot and anything you can conceive. YOU WILL NOT BE HUNGRY! The pool offers all you can drink options. The pool is nice. When we were there it was still chilly. It is oceanview but you need to walk down stairs to get to the beach. THe beach has public access so you will be approached by the array of vendors trying to sell you wares/braids, etc.. Towels are included. When you get to the beach there are chairs included but I cant recall if umbrellas were there. Bahamas tends to always be breezy so the waves are rough and we didnt stay on the beach for long. We were happy on the poolside. There is a beautiful veranda to sit at as well.
