clean1owner Posted February 19, 2012 #102 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We're sitting in the centrum listening to music. Had a really nice dinner. Not engine trouble - one of the propulsion motors is out. No power issues. We smelled a little sewage as we boarded but nothing onboard. Most people are handling this well. The crew has been great and we are all waiting to see where we wake up tomorrow. Even if our cruise ship is now a hotel - still beats cooking dinner at home. There ya go. So much for the "Blown engine have to cut a hole in the hull" theory .

rx4funtravel Posted February 19, 2012 #104 Share Posted February 19, 2012 You are right: It literally does stink on this ship. I will never cruise again. Wow Peggy that is a really negative attitude!! I know I'm not there and can not smell the ship, but geez at least give them a chance. Would you never drive again if your car broke down? Things happen!! You really will be missing out if you let this stop you from ever cruising again!! :)

pscruzinboyz Posted February 19, 2012 #107 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Strange they couldn't sail with the one engine not working. We were on Vision of the Seas a few years back(2006) and did a whole cruise with one engine out. Granted we missed one port but hit all the others. We just traveled at a slower speed. I believe if I remember right they fixed the engine on the turn around day the day we got off the ship at the end of the cruise. Talk about a messed up looking wake... Jimbo:) Hey Jimbo...when I first started reading this thread....I thought of the Vision...we were actually on her when we lost that engine going from Mazatlan to PV...yes they cut our time short in PV and got back into LA 8 hours late for your cruise...and yes i know your cruise sailed with one engine out...still makes for a Great cruise...just at a slower speed....and as you said...got the fix done as she kept sailing. Memories i kind of forgot about...thanks for bringing this up. Miss the Vision/Monarch/Mariner here in LA...One day we all hope to see RCL back again...even for a few months a year...hoping when the New Panama canel opens in a couple of years. hammer52 Posted February 19, 2012 #109 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Look. I'm only an hour away. Tell them I will go in your place. I would rather be on a stinking ship for a week that go to my stinking job all week. give me a call at 555-5555 if they say it is OK to replace you. Thank you in advance! read52 Posted February 19, 2012 #112 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Chill out and enjoy the ship. There are so many things to do on a ship. They will give you some kind of compensation if you miss a port.
Rare Radio Posted February 19, 2012 Author #113 Share Posted February 19, 2012 UPDATE: Cruise Maryland, at the Port of Baltimore. . . Enchantment of the Seas has moved back (about 2 ship lengths) and is currently getting tied back up to the pier (a few hundred feet to the east of Cruise Maryland) It appears that they need to make room for Carnival Pride. . .She is scheduled to dock at 9AM (she is currently about 25nm South of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge) All passengers on board will be receiving a letter this morning (under the cabin door) about the status of Enchantment of the Seas. Psuluv Posted February 19, 2012 #114 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I'm on the Enchantment and we're still waiting for the engine to be fixed. It's 6am 2/19. We moved backward about an hour ago, but it's likely just to make room for the Pride due back in port today. Not everything is available. Shops and casinos are closed as they would normally be in port. Indoor pool is only for use by adults and there are a lot of kids on board. We were hoping to make it to Disney and Key West, but it's looking more and more doubtful...
Trainman-2 Posted February 19, 2012 #115 Share Posted February 19, 2012 It is unfortunate, but things do break down or go wrong. - Car won't Start - Passengers forget to bring Passports - Home Appliances Fail - Home A/C Fails - Costa Concordia hits a Rock andSinks - Two Space Scuttles Blow Up in Flight It seems that these days, everyone expects "Instant Gratification" and I believe we are worse off because of this. All the Captain knows is that his ship is broken and he is not sure why. I am confident the engineers and crew are doing all that they can. But while attempts to resolve the problem continue, the Captain has called in expert assistance. My best wishes to the passengers and crew onboard the ship. Patience is a virtue! Psuluv Posted February 19, 2012 #116 Share Posted February 19, 2012 ...for some reason this ship does smell like sewage. I think people are also upset because getting on the ship was horrendous. The credit card machine to park was slow, so it took 1.5 hrs for some people just to pay. The attendents had to take one car at a time every 15 min. And then the security lines were long and unorganized. But we are lucky to at least be at port. Just wish it was somewhere warm and sunny.
Addict Posted February 19, 2012 #117 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I hope whatever is wrong with the ship can be fixed quickly and the passengers at least can get some of their cruise. I can't imagine being on the ship and not being able to go anywhere - but like some have said, it's better than being at work! :)
dz9yvr Posted February 19, 2012 #118 Share Posted February 19, 2012 Based on the Marine Traffic website, the ship is still at the dock in Baltimore.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted February 19, 2012 #119 Share Posted February 19, 2012 One night of the unknown is usually an adventure. I hope all is fixed and sail away occurs today for all of those aboard. Peggy, I too am usually relaxed and easy going, but there are moments that can be stressful. We did our first cruise for our honey moon and it was good times. On our second crimes it was so wavy that on the second night you could see the stake juice moving on the dinner plate like a wave pool. I swore never again. Look at the cruises we have done below in our signature. As hard as it seems to be stuck at least you are in port and not at sea. I. hope that all is fixed and properly, either on the ship or for all those who are stuck on board. Good luck to all of you. Andrew
cruzinlady1947 Posted February 19, 2012 #120 Share Posted February 19, 2012 We were on a Carnival ship years ago that was leaving from Newport News, Va. There was a hurricane off the coast of N.C. and started heading back towards shore. The ship couldn't make it around Cape Hatteras safely,so we stayed in port all night. Finally around 10 am they told us the cruise was canceled. They gave us our money back and half off another cruise. Plus wiped out everyone's bar bill. I didn't even have a drink. It was very disappointing, but at least they didn't put anyone in danger. Hopefully things will turn out differently for this cruise. Yes, there is a smell on the Enchantment at times, usually on the lower decks. It comes and goes at times. No biggie. Good luck to all on this cruise. I sail on it on March 10th. phill635 Posted February 19, 2012 #121 Share Posted February 19, 2012 My 1st cruise was Explorer 1/27/2012 and we lost a full day and Haiti but we still had a great time.Things happen but stay positive and enjoy the ship whether it's moving or docked. Penguin66 Posted February 19, 2012 #123 Share Posted February 19, 2012 I see the Pride has now passed the Bay Bridge, heading to the terminal. Think I will go up past the port. It will be an experience seeing 2 ships at the cruise terminal.

See that you made it from the Explorer to the Enchantment - hope you all can take off soon for the Bahamas. Nothing like some drama to fire up a cruise - I still remember the "broken propeller" cruise on the EX - the boards were lit up about that.
