RCCI...hadnt heard of Meet and Mingles!!!

Recommended Posts

I recently emailed RCCI to ask if it is possible for a Meet and Mingle time to be altered....and the reply I got ....never heard of Meet and Mingle....sheeeshhh what is with them!!

To make matters worse...because I am in UK my query was forwarded to UK office...who them forwarded it to groups ...who them told me to contact my TA in US to make changes to my booking.....for goodness sake RCCI why not actually read what your passengers are asking before telling us to go elsewhere for info...I dont want to make changes to my booking....I only enquired if the "Meet" time could be changed!!!!

I was finally told to ask the Community Manager at CC about changing the time...but heck I didnt think that was part of LS's job....so I gave up for now.....but I will return...I will get an answer somewhere....eeekkk.

RCCI you are unbelievable

It's just another example of the land based employees not having the full idea of everything involved in a cruise. Frustrating but apparently common with most cruise lines.

As a suggestion, ask for the email address of the Past Passenger Representative on the ship. It seems that they are frequently the coordinator for the M&M.

Keep trying until you get the answer.

Charlie :D

The person I spoke to on the phone just now...suggested I wait till we get on the ship and ask if "meet" time can be changed....my reply was it would be rather difficult then to inform all our group (109) the other board group (236) and all the roll call and other pax of the change in time....

Surely it would be much easier all round it they could change the time, to do it before the sailing.

We are hoping for a Record breaking turnout but with the Slot Tournament on at the same time then it would be kinda difficult to be in both places at once.

I will keep trying though :D

Hi Margie! Long time, no see -- well, it was just a few months and cruises ago, wasn't it. :D

As you stated, Margie, it would be impossible to schedule an event on board ship that didn't conflict with something going on with some passengers -- there's sleep time, eating time, napping time, eating time, casino time, eating time, napping time, eating time, dinner hour, casino, bingo, dance class - need I go on?

On our March 4 X Horizon cruise we had 72 or 74 CC'ers aboard and about 58 attended the CC party. We thought that was a tremendous amount of CCers to attend.

Margie & I were together on LOS last Sept. and although not all CCers could attend the Meet & Mingle party, we all seemed to find each other on the ship during the cruise and had fun finding each other.

Margie -- hope to cruise with you and Donna on another cruise sometime. We will be on the Mex. Riviera again this Sept. and will be remembering our LOS cruise all over again.

Hi Dianne!

Time goes by so fast! My family enjoyed cruising with you and would love to cruise with you guys again!

I see you are on the Millennium in April to the Caribbean...we will be on the Millennium in June to the Mediterranean! We are very excited.

Donna just got back from the Sun Princess a few days ago....she had a wonderful time! We only managed to connect on one cruise this year, in November....we will be celebrating Donna's 50th birthday, it should be a great cruise!!

I sure hope we do run into each other in the near future!!

Hello Liz:

It is certainly my responsibility to assist with any issues with regard to Meet & Mingles. That said, we have been successful in working to get times of parties changed in the past.

However, the optimum time and day for a Meet & Mingle -- where the most Cruise Critic members are likely to attend -- is on the FIRST AVAILABLE SEA DAY -- at a time that doesn't coincide with any dinner seatings.

I believe your sailing's Meet & Mingle is scheduled appropriately.

Having sailed many times on Voyager class ships, I'm often astounded on the number of activities and events being held at any given hour. As some have stated, it would be impossible to know which events a person would want to attend who is also a Cruise Critic member, and then reschedule the gathering because of it. Hypothetically speaking, if we change the time/day, and it then conflicts with something another member wants to attend, do we change it again? (unanswerable question).

Royal Caribbean strives to provide these gatherings to our members at the most convenient and opportune time for the majority. In the beginning of our co-venture, the ships did not have set times/places for these gatherings. We've worked hard over these past three years to standardized these, and I think Royal Caribbean has done a fantastic job in listening to what our members have said:

- You want the parties as early as possible in the cruise.

- You don't want the parties on a port day.

- You don't want them to conflict with the DINNER HOUR.

- You don't want them to conflict with EVENING ENTERTAINMENT.

- You don't want them too close to the dinner hour.

- Don't schedule them during the Captain's Cocktail Hour.

With regard to your not being able to obtain information from the UK RCI Representative, I can certainly understand your frustration. A simple e-mail to me OR to the e-mail provided on the RCI Meet & Mingle registration page (xplora@rccl.com) could have cleared this all up.

Thanks Laura

I did infact email, last week, the link you gave but they didnt reply.

As you know,we are with the CC group Reali-Tini and along with the group from the other board,we really hoped for a record breaking turnout at the Meet, but an awful lot of pax were disappointed to discover the Slot Tournament was being held at the same time and really wanted to take part in that.We just wondered if the Meet could be perhaps be held a bit earlier in the day, rather than at 1pm(lunchtime)...say about 10.30/11am.That way pax could enjoy the Slot Tournament, attend Meet and then go to lunch...perhaps with their new cruise buddies :D

Och well if the time cant be changed then we have to abide by the rules I suppose....darn it ...I was looking forward to the Meet but hey...with no Casinos in the Highlands....it will be the Slot Tournament for me.

Thanks for explaining it though...I had asked our GL but she said it was RCCI who dealt with it.

Just off Splendour and our M&M was held at 10:30 am. Maybe if you ask for that specific time, they can change yours. There was not a lot going on at that time of day. Have a great time on your cruise!!

Thanks Rala :D

The Splendour was where I took part in my first Slot Tourney...what a fantastic time we had....we laughed and cheered each other on...it was a great way to mix with others:D and yes it was held at 10.30am then also.

On the Navigator...it was same time...and folks were able to go to the Meet afterwards.

I dont understand RCCI/CC having the Meet on the Mariner at lunchtime....maybe thats why they arent getting such good turnouts....
