highheel girl Posted February 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Will princess allow a 17 yr old and 14 yr old stay in room alone with parent next door? We booked ours each with an adult and switched once onboard. ;)
Iamcruzin Posted February 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Yes. We had the same arrangement when my sons were 14 and 17.
Kineticoh20 Posted February 25, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted February 25, 2012 We booked ours each with an adult and switched once onboard. ;) We have done that too, but you have to get keys changed and it's a pain.
Loonbeam Posted February 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2012 As noted you can move people around but one 18+ must be booked in each cabin.. Will princess allow a 17 yr old and 14 yr old stay in room alone with parent next door?
Iamcruzin Posted February 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2012 As noted you can move people around but one 18+ must be booked in each cabin.. Unless things have changed in the past two years one 16 year old must be booked in each cabin and you must be 21 to travel without a parent or guardian. Loonbeam Posted February 25, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2012 That's right. It's 18 for a single cabin I think, but 16 for multiples with parent or guardian on the same cruise. Unless things have changed in the past two years one 16 year old must be booked in each cabin and you must be 21 to travel without a parent or guardian. wowsmom Posted February 25, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2012 In 2010, we booked our then 16 and 12 year old sons in the cabin next to ours, no problem. This was booked through Princess. In 2009 and 2011, we booked one parent, one kid in each cabin. Those were both booked through travel agents. Not sure about 2009 (my husband booked that one), but last year, it was done that way so the kids' insurance would be free (I had specifically asked our TA since the year before, they'd been booked into their own cabin). Either way, it works out - we got a copy of their cabin key and gave them a copy of ours even when it wasn't necessary (since they were booked into their own cabin). tamsocal Posted February 25, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2012 How was their insurance free? We have purchased thru travel insured and they offered free kids insurance. But not sure what Post above was referencing
jajsmom Posted February 25, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2012 We have a 17 and 15y/o booked in the cabin next to ours this summer. Booked directly through Princess. I was prepared to book one adult in each room, but it was not necessary.

With Princess we always had to pay for any of the kids. :)
ukbecky Posted February 25, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 25, 2012 We cruised in December and our 2 boys 17 and 14 were in a room across the hall. Their cabin was linked to ours but the names on it were just theirs. Booked through a travel agent.
chipmaster Posted February 25, 2012 #14 Share Posted February 25, 2012 We like others booked an adult and child and once on board just swapped rooms. Will princess allow a 17 yr old and 14 yr old stay in room alone with parent next door?
DonnaK Posted February 25, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 25, 2012 If one child is at least 16, then you do NOT have to book one adult into each cabin. Your children can have their OWN booking, which will be linked to yours. Their booking is marked "accompanied minors". We did this on both of our Princess cruises. Our children were in an inside cabin across from our balcony cabin.
roe2ship Posted February 25, 2012 #16 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Yes, Princess does allow this.....I, too, booked my kids when one was 16 years old in their own cabin.
sez809 Posted February 25, 2012 #17 Share Posted February 25, 2012 The friends we are sailing with in August have booked a balcony room, with their sons, 17 and 15, in an interior room across the hall. Booked as exactly that with no swapping needed, via a TA.
