Mini review Mariner of the seas -caribbean 2/26/12

Recommended Posts

pre cruise- we flew in the night before from CA, stayed at the howard johnson on harborside dr, nice hotel for the night, got a shuttle in the morning to the pier 10$ PP

embarking- went slow, long lines, chaotic and HOT... we arrived around 12n

no seats to sit in, etc, but once we got going it was about 1 1/2 hrs to check in and get on the ship

1 complaint that i do have, our luggage didnt arrive until 930p that night, so we missed dinner, we were in travel clothes and flip flops ,we have been on 9 cruises never got my luggage that late, ever

our room- we had a family oceanview deck 6 ,,HUGE lots of space, extra storage daughter loved the bunk beds, didnt feel any more motion then being anywhere on the ship.,, didnt care for the room attendant, very rude, unfriendly , but oh well

the ship- HUGE, biggest we have been on, only bad thing about having a room in the very front, alot of WALKING, and they layout confused me at times,

loved the pools, hot tubs, loved the buffet, alot of food choices in windjammer but the food was kinda the same every day especially for breakfast, loved the promenade 24hr cafe, went there alot for snacks, coffee, tea, pizza, sandwiches etc,

casino was nice, small, fun slots, didnt go in there much,

loved all the art work around the ship, the promenade area was nice with the shops and pubs, etc,

our daughter loved the huge arcade,

food- we had excellent waiters, great service good food,

never really ate anything i didnt like, and i ate alot, being pregnant i kinda tried everything, never got a funny look whenever we each would order more than 1 entree or appetizer, always good service,

windjammer good service also, liked all the food, hard to find seats at times, but other than that it was really good,

ports-

my fav port ROATAN

we booked the fun and sun tour with victor bodden 25$ pp, we got to see the monkeys and play in the cages with them, they were amazing! friendly , cuddly and very very amusing... our daughter loved it, also went to west bay beach, beautiful water, had lunch at the thirsty turtle or something it was called, hubby had a huge red snapper, loved it. then we toured the island, very lush green and tropical loved it! for the price, excellent tour and guide

Belize- we did the cavetubing, booked private,

1 hr drive to the jungle 1 hr hike in the jungle 1 1/2 hr tubing through 2 caves, pretty awesome! i surprised myself being 5 months pregnant and i managed to do it , guides were awesome !

Cozumel- went to paradise beach! awesome place! for 12$ water toys, kayak, snorkling, pool, showers, restrooms, etc etc etc

so worth it to go there, had a great day husband and daughter saw alot of fish ! 13$ taxi ride each way from the pier

overall this was our 1st time on RCCL, and I liked it, I book our cruises based on ports, and where it leaves from , tried galveston, never had been to texas and let me tell you , all the people on the ship were from texas and they were all VERY VERY friendly!! alot of older people not alot of kids,

but had a great great vacation, so sad it is all over...

any questions please ask away,

im gonna try to post some pics ..

For future reference: everyone is welcome in the dining room on the first night in whatever "travel" clothes they are wearing. Many people dine in shorts and flip flops...for just the reason that you stated about not getting your luggage until late. So don't feel that you must go elsewhere on the first night! Glad you enjoyed your first RCI cruise. Mariner is one of my favorite ships and we were also on your cruise.

Thanks for your review. Was it just the three of you in the family oceanview suite? I would love to see some pics of the room if you have any. Thanks in advance.
