NewWaveDave Posted April 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2005 Does anyone know if there is a car rental in Aruba who: 1) has a pick-up and drop-off at the cruise pier? AND ALSO 2) allows you to keep the vehicles out later than 6:00 pm? Do the rental places provide a road map of Aruba? Is it any good? WOuld you recommend purchasing a B&B map before going to Aruba? adonisr Posted April 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2005 The last time we were there, there were rental right at the pier. They give you a map. Not sure how late you can keep the car. We had a great time exploring on our own.
Rare island lady Posted April 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2005 The ships dock right downtown. You walk through the shopping mall area, and find a bunch of rental car agencies ready to serve you. We were docked until 11 pm and kept the rental car till 9 pm. We did a one day rental, which you could keep for 24 hours if you wanted. I would recommend renting a 4 wheel drive if you want to do the back island adventure. It can get a tad bit rough in areas, like a moon scape atmosphere almost, but really unique. We loved it there. Cheers!
lephysteria Posted April 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2005 Hi, We rented a little car (there's a picture of it here and here). When it was rented to us, it had TWO FLAT TIRES! ARG!  We had to find a gas station, and put air back in the tire or else we'd not make it back to the port to return this stupid car! All I'm saying is put your hand over the tires when you check it out. This would have saved us a lot of time! IF the car would have been great, we'd have to get the car back by 5pm. That's when it closed. The charge for this POS car was $30 for the day. :)
