J&DfromTheVillages Posted March 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2012 Our thread for our July 14, 2012 cruise to Alaska on Sapphire Princess has all new cruisers to Alaska. Would someone who wouldn't mind answering some questions about Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway experience please post on our thread. We need your expertise. Thanks, Judy and Dan from St. Louis:o
CruiserBruce Posted March 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2012 Are you referring to your roll call? If so, a link would be helpful, so we don't have to find it. There is tons of info on this board about those ports.
Budget Queen Posted March 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2012 I would also suggest you just post your questions on this board, since many of us are already answering and it would have the advantage of being available for the entire Alaska board. I am also sailing the Sapphire this year, in August.

Thanks, Judy and Dan from St. Louis:o The Roll Calls are for specific questions about that sailing. General questions should be asked here, as it's impossible for the experts to answer the same question over and over again on every Roll Call. J&DfromTheVillages Posted March 12, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted March 12, 2012 I appreciate your responding. I'm not as technically savvy as all of you, so I'm not sure how to post the link to our thread so I will post specific questions on this thread. I have looked around here, but apparently didn't go back far enough. Thanks again for responsing.:) I haven't been able to get on the Ketchikan Tourist Information website, so I was interested in knowing what seasoned travelers recommended for that post. TheCalicoCat Posted March 13, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2012 You & everyone else on your roll call needs to figure out what they want to do & what they can afford to do. Then look into the various options for doing them.
J&DfromTheVillages Posted March 13, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted March 13, 2012 www.visit-ketchikan.com Thanks AGAIN! When I googled Ketchikan Tourist Information I got a number of web sites, but when I went to each of those I kept getting a white screen with "Site Not Available". So thanks for this link! I've already tried it and it works! :):):)

Now I need to do more research on Juneau. Any suggestions? :):):) If you want to see whales, Auke Bay in Juneau is one of the best places for that. We did the ship excursion (with Allen Marine) but there are some independent tour companies that are highly recommended on this board - Harv & Marv and Orca Enterprises to name a couple. A lot of people combine one of these tours with Mendenhall Glacier. Happy planning:) http://www.harvandmarvs.com/ http://www.orcaenterprises.com/ http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g31020-d105339-Reviews-Mendenhall_Glacier-Juneau_Alaska.html
